Lab Rescue is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization that rescues, fosters and places Labrador Retrievers (and Golden Retriever-Labrador Retriever mixes) in new homes. We are similar to other animal placement groups such as shelters and humane societies, but we specialize in Labradors. We place over 1,000 Labradors each year.
We serve families in metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland, and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region including the Baltimore area, the greater Richmond area, Virginia's Tidewater region, Maryland's Eastern Shore, eastern West Virginia, and southwest Virginia.
Our labs are evaluated for temperament and then placed with foster families where they are loved, exercised, and further evaluated as they await adoption. All of our dogs are provided with rabies, lepto and distemper shots, tested for heartworm and lyme, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.
For information about adopting a Lab, giving up a Lab, or volunteering, please visit www.lab-rescue.org or contact us info@lab-rescue.org or (301)299-6756. Join the Lab Rescue group or page on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to hear about upcoming events and meet others who love labs! You can also sign up for our e-newsletter below.
If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lab Rescue, please fill out our adoption application and send it to us online (or by fax/mail); after we receive it, an adoption coordinator will contact you to tell you more about dogs we have who might be a good match with you. If you prefer, you can attend a Lab Rescue Adopt-A-Lab-Day.
Join us at one of our upcoming adoption days to meet 20 or 30 Labs, all of whom are ready to go home with new families. You can complete an application, be interviewed, and go home with a new Lab that day, but all household members, human and canine, must be present.
There's no need to wait for an adoption day! We adopt dogs out every day from foster homes.
Senior dogs, age 8 and up, are easygoing and well-mannered companions. Lab Rescue offers a discount on the adoption fee for these dogs to encourage you to consider these special companions. Mention this offer to your Adoption Coordinator to receive the discount.
Lab Rescue is a volunteer-driven organization and we need your help to save more dogs.
We need families to foster a dog in their home until the dog gets adopted. This helps us learn more about the dog and find the best possible match for an adoptive family. Give fostering a try and get some extra Lab love in your life!
We also need assistance at upcoming adoption days so we can show more dogs and increase their chances of being adopted. In addition, we need help transporting dogs to and from vets, shelters, and foster homes. Learn more about volunteer opportunities.
Lab Rescue depends on donations, in addition to adoption fees, to pay for veterinary care for the dogs. Make a donation today.
