Adopting A Friend

Adopting a pet is a very serious endeavor. We must take our time and choose the pet that will fit into our lifestyle and our family. We have many older pets that are in need of a good home. Before you buy think about your local shelter !!! There are millions of pets each year that must be put to sleep because there are not enough good homes for them. Please help our shelter and shelters around the country work towards a day when there will be no more unwanted pets !!!

* ALL REDEMPTIONS (RECLAIMING YOUR DOG) CAN ONLY BE DONE MONDAY-FRIDAY 10:00AM - 4:00PM

Our department started a, "Senior to Senior", program. This program will allow citizens of Queen Anne's County who are 60 years of age or older, to adopt any senior animal (6years or older) from our shelter for an adoption fee of $60. This program will also be extended to all citizens of Queen Anne's County that wish to adopt an animal that is 6 years old or older, or any animal deemed to be a special needs animal. Please stop by the Shelter or call us if you have any questions about this exciting program.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our Christmas Paws program!

Map to our shelter

Our Spay/Neuter Clinic was dedicated on Saturday, October 18, 2003. We have a operating room and a recovery room here in the Animal Control Center Office Building. The clinic is being used to spay and neuter animals adopted from the shelter and for the county Low Cost program. The clinic was constructed completely from grants and donations and did not involve taxpayer dollars. We are very proud of our new clinic and many thanks go out to the staff at the Department of Animal Control, Steve Wilson, Susy Wentink, Adopt-A-Pet Inc., Synder Foundation for Animals and the many private donations that made the clinic a reality.

The Queen Anne's County Animal Control Commission meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
