The best way to get more information about one of our adoptable pets is to email us. We will return phone calls as quickly as we can, but work schedules can cause delay, so use email if possible to contact us.

Most of our dogs come from small rural shelters. Overwhelmed with abandoned animals, these shelters would be forced to euthanize these dogs were it not for Friends for Life. By adopting one of these special dogs, you are truly saving a life.
Our shelter is located on private land in Frederick County, Maryland. We have no adoption center there, and it is not open to the public. We do adoptions through weekend adoption events held every Saturday at the Frederick Petsmart on Urbana Pike from 11-3:00.

Most of our dogs have never lived in a house. At our shelter, they are all crate trained, and sleep in crates inside the house at night. During the day, they live outside in packs, and get to play and romp to their heart's content. It's a happy place! So...if you want to know if the dog you just saw is housetrained, it's probably not. Most of our dogs are not. Adult dogs train VERY quickly with the use of a crate. We will teach you how!
All FFL dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They are also microchipped. The adoption fee is $150.00 adult dogs and puppies.
FFL adopts directly from our weekend adoption events into qualified homes. We do not take multiple applications on the same dog, nor do we keep waiting lists. We do not hold dogs. If you are interested in meeting one of the dogs you have seen here, please email us to arrange it.
You will be required to take a pre-adoption interview and to fill out an application at the adoption event prior to an adoption. We adopt only to the best homes, and we focus on making sure the pet you apply for is the right one for you. So if we tell you to consider another pet, please don't be insulted. We want to make the right match for you and for the animal.
The dogs listed here are a small sampling of our available adoptables. We typically have about 50 adoptables at any time, and a sampling are on Petfinder. Please contact us if you are looking for a particular type of dog -- we may have just what you want!
