Who We Are

Alley Cat Rescue is helping to solve the problems faced by unwanted and abandoned cats. We are saving lives with innovative hands-on programs. Based in Maryland, we have rescued hundreds of cats and placed them in loving homes. We also assist with care of feral and special-needs cats and provide information on cat care, allergies, behavioral problems, feline diseases, and feral cats.

TNR works! We loan out traps and help with spay/neuter of feral cats and more! Please contact us for more information on dealing with feral cat populations humanely.

Featured Kitties!

Remember, you are welcome to foster pretty much any of our kitties at your home first to see how they work out before committing to an adoption.  However, we do require a deposit of the full adoption fee ($135 for one, $210 for a pair), which we will not cash until the adoption is completed.

Emmeline

Emmeline is a sweet, affectionate, and handsome girl who wants to be an only cat.  She is having a hard time getting adopted because of her age (older adult), color (black), and the fact that she does not get on well with other cats.

Charlotte and Rivka

Charlotte and Rivka are a wonderful pair of kittens who want to stay together.  They are about 7 months old, and were trapped as feral kittens.  While Charlotte in particular is shy, they do enjoy human attention.  Won't you take these beauties into your heart and home?

Tibbie

Tibbie is a very sweet, laid back, and tolerant girl who gets along well with people, other cats, and even large dogs!  All she wants is a nice home where she will get lots of TLC.  Tibbie is having a lot of trouble getting adopted because of the stigma associated with FIV.  Tibbie will more likely than not live a long, healthy life without necessarily experiencing any problems related to her status as FIV positive.

News

Alley Cat Rescue altered over 100 cats and dogs in two days in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  We took a team of vets to the area and not only performed the surgeries but taught local vets how to spay/neuter.  Now the local vets are taking the initiative and doing the surgeries on their own!  Our efforts have prevented thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born.  You can read more about it here.  Video from this event and also of many of our cats who are available for adoption is available here!

We have many wonderful cats and kittens available for adoption. Feel free to inquire about any of them by email or phone. All of our cats and kittens for adoption have been spayed or neutered, had all their shots, and been tested for feline diseases. If you cannot adopt, please consider a "virtual adoption". You can pick your favorite from our descriptions and donate for that particular cat. We will send you a photo and keep you updated on his/her progress and let you know when a home is found. What a great way to help save more lives!

We also accept PetsMart gift cards as well as towels, sheets, blankets etc. Look for us in this years Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). BARN HOMES NEEDED

Alley Cat Rescue is in dire need of farm/barn homes for unfriendly/shy cats. We have several beautiful cats who would love to live the country life on a farm or in a barn. If you can open up some room in your heart or these very deserving kitties please contact alleycatrescue@gmail.com. These cats are currently boarded at our vet and need to live a life outside of a cage. Please help if you can!

Adopting a friend

At adoption, all of our cats and kittens are altered, vaccinated, tested for FLV/FIV, dewormed, microchipped, and given flea treatment.  The adoption fee for one is $135 -- it is $210 for a pair.  Additional donations are always appreciated, as these fees do not cover the costs of all the veterinary care these cats have received.

You may also go to PetsMart at any time (when they are open) to adopt a cat or kitten!  See directions below.

Please call or email if you're interested in meeting a specific cat, or visiting adoptable cats who have not made their way to PetsMart yet. Visits to our office (NE of DC, just outside the city line) are by appointment only. Our adoption center is located inside the PetsMart at 12020 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring MD 20904 -- there are always plenty of cats there who need homes!

Why not double your fun and pleasure and adopt two kitties to love? We have several cats in our PetsMart adoption center who would be thrilled to find a home together.
