ADOPTION PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS:
#1 Adoption Application, which includes:
A)Vet check. We check to make sure your current/past animals are/were kept up-to-date on their vaccines and neutered/spayed. You may not adopt from us until your current pet(s), including outside cats, are all spayed/neutered and completely vaccinated. "Completely vaccinated" refers to Rabies and Distemper. A past history lacking vaccinations and alteration does not necessarily eliminate you from adopting from us, please be up front and honest with us.
B) Landlord check if applicable
C) A background check we perform through a service to check for any history of abuse or criminal activity and your residency. This will tell us if you own your home, who your neighbors are, and if you have had any past criminal history.
E) A reference check of any rescues that you have adopted from (this is a GREAT resource to have, gives you major points with us).
#2 We will contact you if your application is approved to make an appointment for you to come visit and choose an animal. If you are not approved or the animal that you are interested in is adopted, we will contact you to discuss your options.
#3 Adoption Contract signed by the adopter and a rescue representative in person. This is a legally binding contract between you and our organization, this is something we will stand behind and enforce, please do not apply to adopt if you cannot live by our policies, including the neuter/spay requirement.
#4 Adoption fee: cash or check made out to Animal Kingdom Kennel. We no longer accept credit cards.
DOGS: (Larger = more $ to spay/neuter which = more $ to adopt. Puppies are more b/c they require more vaccines up front.)
Females $50 and up
Males $50 and up
Where does my adoption fee go?
CATS: (Kittens are more b/c they require more vaccines up front)
$25-100
The adoption fee reflects the vet bills we have paid for the pet and the portion of the vet bills we have assigned to the particular pet. We do not make any money on this rescue project, we are only interested in finding wonderful homes for our wonderful orphans and breaking even financially, we donate 100% of our time, effort, and gasoline. We DO follow up and enforce our contract, this is not an option or something to be taken lightly.
WHAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFY YOU FROM ADOPTING FROM US:
#1 If you live outside of MD, PA, WV, VA, DC, DE. Surely there are dogs in your own state that can meet your requirements??? Please check your local rescues and shelters, and BE PATIENT, the 'right' dog will come along.
#2 If you have any animals on your vet record that you cannot explain where they are and/or cannot show that they were taken care of properly. Every animal in the household needs to be spay/neutered and kept up to date with Rabies and Distemper. We can place your application on hold until you are able to accomplish this or provide proof.
