Exciting things are happening at Lizzy's Lodge--we are continually placing our special pals in great homes and finding new locations to introduce them to you. Harley, Kylie, Sophia, Misty, Gracie, Bentley, Lola (terrier mix), Jayce, Leila and Lola (lab mix) are all living large in their new permanent homes.
Every pooch that goes to his/her loving home opens a foster space for us to save another life. Our list of adoptable dogs changes often, so keep checking.
Keep an eye on the events listing to find out where our adoption events will be so you can meet some of our wonderful dogs looking for their new home. Also, join us for any (or all) of the exciting, fun events we have coming up.
We do not have a central facility for our charges. All of our pets are fostered in the area, learning to live in family homes.
If an animal on our website catches your eye and grabs at your heartstrings, use the email link on that animal's biography page to contact his/her foster caregiver directly.
Please be sure to tell us a little bit about you and your family, and include both day time and evening phone numbers where we can reach you.
Our foster, who knows the most about the animal, would love to talk to you and tell you all about the pet. They can also help you evaluate if that dog, with it's unique personality and needs, is truly a good fit for your household. When speaking with the foster, if it seems like the animal will be a good match, you can arrange to meet the dog at one of our adoption events, or at some other convenient location.
All of our animals are spayed or neutered, brought up to date on required vaccinations and micro-chipped prior to settlement in a new home. All available health records are provided to the adopters.
If you want to move forward with adoption after meeting the dog, we will ask you to complete an application. Reference check and home visit are part of our process.
Lizzy’s Lodge is a private, all volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing companion animals who are at risk of euthanasia in area shelters. Under special circumstances, some may also come to us for re-homing directly from their owners.
We bring these animals into our foster homes and give them a chance to get back on their feet. This helps us learn about the animal's temperament, energy level and training needs. This information enables us to match the animal to a family or individual in a new home.
Our approach is to provide love and support for both the animal and the family, and to make the best match possible for animal and people.
Incorporated in 2006, we are in our 7th year of saving animals and to date, more than 600 animals have had a chance at a new life, thanks to those who support Lizzy's Lodge. We are grateful for each of you! Together we are saving lives!

If you have general questions about Lizzy's Lodge, want information on volunteering, or want to find out more about upcoming events, please email us at: email@example.com.
We do our very best to respond to inquiries quickly and efficiently, and always look forward to hearing from you!! But...please remember that everyone at Lizzy's Lodge is a VOLUNTEER. We hold regular day-time jobs, have family responsibilities, and must see to the needs of the pets in our care before responding to emails or phone calls. At times, it may take us a day or two to get back in touch.
Ways You Can Support Our Efforts
Lizzy’s Lodge operates through the generosity of our donors, adopters and friends. Individual animals may be sponsored by donating at their biography page on: www.lizzyslodge.petfinder.org.
Adoption Events--We've changed our adoption event locations recently. We are going to PetValu stores in Montgomery Village (2nd Saturdays), Damascus (3rd Saturdays) and Cabin John (1st Saturdays). Our event hours are noon - 2pm for all of the locations.
Due to space constraints, we cannot always bring all of the available pets to each event, but will try to have respective fosters bring specific animals if needed. If you want to meet a specific dog, be sure to make arrangements with that dog's foster caregiver before Thursday.
Please check our events calendar for details about adoption events and for other exciting upcoming activities for your whole family.
