UPDATE 10/20/09****Rachel's Rescue Ranch is being restructured. After a nearly certain end to my rescue efforts, local area businesses and individuals offered help by donating supplies and fund raising opportunities. In the past, I've paid for all my rescue costs out of my own pocket . Due to severe financial burden, I could no longer afford to keep running. At this time, I'm beginning a limited sponsorship program for those who wish that I take in cats/kittens. Individuals may donate a monthly donation or a lump sum donation to contribute towards the care and supplies needed to keep these kitties happy. Thanks to the efforts and encouragement of many remarkable people, there are a record number of rescues here at this time*********
I rescue animals with the goal of alleviating suffering as best as I can of any animal that comes across my path.
This is a homeless cat rescue primarily, with the occasional listing on behalf of owners who need to rehome their animals for reasons out of their control.
My main goal is to continue spaying and neutering homeless cats until the regional pet overpopulation problem gets under control and our state doesn't have to euthanize so many healthy, loving dogs and cats everyday.
Should you find yourself in need of direction to help you manage a feral colony, I'm your girl. Ask me anything you wish regarding feral colony management. However, I simply can't do it all alone. I will be overjoyed to provide you with information and resources to improve the feral situation you are concerned with. I'll even do all I can to help connect and coordinate help for you but please, don't ask me to do it for you because I simply can't. There are feral colonies everywhere. If you need help, I'll do what I can but understand I do this entirely on a volunteer basis and work 2 jobs to support my rescue efforts. I appreciate all who contact me for help. That says to me, that you care enough to do SOMETHING. That places you worlds beyond most people. The average person does nothing and turns a blind eye towards the crisis that is pet overpopulation.
I encourage all to learn about the TNR effort. If we all do what we are capable of doing to ensure our pets are spayed/neutered, there could someday be no unwanted pets born to suffer. Please please please....spay/neuter your pet and PLEASE don't buy a dog or cat from a breeder or pet store. They are lives...just like people. If you "order" a dog or cat, you are signing a death warrant for a soul in a shelter somewhere. Mutts and Domestic regular cats are amongst the healthiest pets out there. So go for the heart and save a devoted life. You will be rewarded with a lifetime of love.
Adopting a Friend...
Is easy! All you have to do is visit our Pet List to find one (or more) that you may be interested in, email us for an Adoption application. The application asks if you are willing to allow us to deliver the cat to your home, if you own/rent and if we may contact your landlord if you rent. If you have existing dogs/cats in the home, we request the contact information for your vet so we may verify your pets are current on their rabies vaccine. Once you return/email back the application, it will be reviewed and we'll schedule a time for you to visit the cat/kitten you are interested in. Contact info is located at the bottom of the page.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC KIND OF CAT AND DON'T SEE IT ON MY ADOPTABLE PET LIST, PLEASE ASK ME ANYWAY. I NETWORK WITH SEVERAL DOZEN OTHER GROUPS AND RESCUERS FROM ALL OVER MD AND THE SURROUNDING STATES. CHANCES ARE, IF I DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT KITTY FOR YOU, I KNOW WHO DOES. I ALSO FOSTER MANY CATS FOR OTHER RESCUES. IT IS AGAINST PETFINDER REGULATION TO DOUBLE POST PETS. I MAY HAVE THE CAT YOUR LOOKING FOR BUT CAN'T POST IT HERE. ASK.......OR YOU'LL NEVER KNOW. CONSIDER ME YOUR FRIEND IN THE BUSINESS......
"How Much does it cost?" Pet Adoption Fees are usually the cost of the spay/neuter operation plus any additional shots or medical treatment the animal had to have $110 for one cat, $180 for two. If you think you have what it takes, an additional discount will be considered if you wish to adopt three. This is only for the truly kitty savy, we'll discuss.
Adoption fees are kept as low as possible in order to find as many homes for cats as possible. Anything extra goes towards food, litter, and extra medical bills above the spay/ neuter surgeries.
If you are not interested in adoption at this time, but currently have or know of an animal who is un-altered, if you email me your mailing address, I'll send you the SNAP (Spay/Neuter All Pets) easy, 1 page application so you can get spays done for $45 and neuters done for $30 at almost any vet you choose at your own convenience.
THIS IS GOOD FOR BOTH DOGS AND CATS. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS PROGRAM! I ALSO HAVE INFORMATION ON LOCAL LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAMS. SERIOUSLY.....$45 OR LESS FOR A SPAY AND $30 FOR A NEUTER FOR CATS. LOCAL...I SAID LOCAL! NO REASON NOT TO!
