    Who We Are

Lucky Ones S.P.C.A. began as an inspiration after the "Candlelight Vigil" of August 1992 which was held as a memorial to the thousands of pets killed annually by the Tri-County Animal Shelter, Hughesville Md, because of overpopulation. Lucky Ones is devoted to ensuring each pet a treasured and loving home.

Since 1993 Lucky Ones S.P.C.A. has rescued, altered, fostered and adopted over 6,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens into loving permanent homes.

We rely on volunteer foster homes. We rescue pets on their last days from the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Southern Maryland. Unfortunately, due to limited space we cannot accept pets from other sources.

We are a nonprofit organization formed to establish a spay-neuter clinic, to prevent unwanted pets and to promote adoption. Be part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

For your peace of mind and for a safer, healthier and more content pet, have your pet altered for life.

    Adopting a friend

We will be at the Petsmart in Waldorf, MD on Saturday, August 18 from 12-3. We will also be at the Grand Opening of Petco in La Plata on Thursday, August 23 from 10-12.

    Come Visit Us!

Please check our webpage www.luckyones.com/dogs_available/dogs_available.htm for updated times and locations for our weekend dog adoption events. "If you're unable to make the adoption fair, please contact Joan, the foster mom, at (301) 274-0504." Luckyones consists of several foster homes and does not have a "place" for visiting. Checking out a potential dog or cat at an organized adoption event usually allows less pressure and works out better for everyone involved.
