Whisker's and Purrs
Who We Are
Whiskers and PurrsWe are just concerned that all animals have loving forever homes. Our cats are for the most part, unwanted throw aways, or ones that have just wandered into our hearts and home.

Adoption fees/Donations:
$100 for one cat or kitten. All of our animals are spayed or neutered PRIOR to being re-homed, tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, vaccinated for FVRCPC (distemper combo) & Rabies (if old enough), treated for fleas, ear mites, and anything else that might be necessary prior to adoption. Most are microchipped for their safety.

By fostering animals out to good homes, we increase the chance for those animals to become adopted in many ways:
The foster home will begin to learn all the wonderful qualities their foster pet possesses.
The foster parent can tell prospective pet owners, through us or on there own, about these qualities in the hopes of finding it a new home.
For the animals that have some minor behavioral problems in the shelter environment, being in a foster home is a nice break from the stress they're under day in and day out.
You will find being a foster home is rewarding when you find a homeless pet a new home and it doesn't have to stay at a shelter.
Expectations to Foster:
Our goal is to find more homes for our pets through our foster program.
We ask that you keep the animal for at least 90 days. If no home is found, you may exchange the animal out or return the pet to shelter with a 2-week notice.
As a nonprofit agency, we ask the foster home to provide all of the necessary equipment, food, bedding, litter to care for the animal. These items may be provided if absolutely necessary. Any expenses a foster home incurs towards the care of a foster animal can be declared as a tax-deductible donation.
All foster homes are expected to seek emergency care if needed. We do have a veterinarian on call for some emergencies.
Even if you already have a pet at home, you may still foster a pet. Many foster homes are pet owners who successfully integrate healthy adult foster animals into their home after ensuring their own animals are vaccinated and spayed or neutered.
All adoptions must be processed at the shelter. This is to ensure all paperwork is properly completed according to state regulations.
We will be glad to work with you and answer your questions about becoming a foster parent. Please contact the shelter if you have any questions, 410-651-1084
