Who We Are

The Garrett County Humane Society has been in existance for more than 20 years. We are a non-proft, 501 C volunteer organization. Our main goals are to rescue abused/neglected animals, promote adoptions from our County shelter and provide $ assistance to people who need to have their pets spayed or neutered. We also work to educate our youth about pet care, and how to be a responsible pet owner. We DO NOT operate the local shelter but we do provide supportive services including photographing the adoptable animals for the local newspaper and Petfinder. We assist the local rescue(HART) when needed.

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in adopting a pet, you must visit the County Shelter Monday-Friday during business hours, it is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. In order to adopt a pet you must fill out an adoption application which is used to verify whether your other pets are being vetted etc. and you must pay an adoption fee which is used towards the cost of spaying or neutering your new pet. You may take the pet home for a trial period. Once adopted you are responsible for the care of the pet including providing food, water, shelter, Vet care, love and attention!! We are NOT a no-kill shelter so come by or call to see what we have available it could save a cat or dogs life by adopting from us.thanks!
