_________________ Here's the scoop...kittens very quickly become adults within about 5 months and
then surprise, they start popping up in shelters, or get thrown out in apartment
complexes, left behind when moving, dropped off on farms, and so on. We have a
wonderful selection of HEALTHY adults all ironically between 1-2 years old! We
have maybe 2 or 3 cats that are over 5 years old. You know why? ..more

Tip of the Day: The Vacuum Effect Did you know that if you get rid of a group of cats that may be behind your house, or in your neighborhood, all you are doing is inviting a whole new set to settle in and take their place? This is known as the vacuum effect. Cats usually are in a location where there is a food source, as well as water and shelter.
They are territorial,
and group together in what is known as kitty colonies. New
additions to the group are not welcome usually. Occasionally transients pass
through but don't stay for long. If you scoop up a whole set and take them to an
animal control facility, the kitties in the neighborhood in the neighboring
territory will be very grateful and move right in! The way to fix this is by
population control through spay and neuter. This limits the group size
permanently and eventually the group becomes smaller and smaller over time
through attrition. So, call us and let us help you with your neighborhood
project. All kinds of little facts like this need to be considered!
Minne! - I am about 3 yr old, a darling orange/white GIRL! Click on pic for info! Special needs just a tiny bit, required to be on Science Diet food. p.s. I have a gorgeous brother too! Mickey(2). |
