Dog of the Month

Dog of the Month at Taunton Animal Shelter in Massachusetts

BUDDY, The October Dog of The Month

BUDDY is a male Am Staff, about 7 years old. We named this sweet boy "Buddy" because that is exactly what he would be to you = your best Buddy! He seems to like everyone and seems fine with most dogs. He does not, however, like cats and needs to go to a home with no cats! We recommend breed knowledge and a fenced yard would be ideal. Buddy likes to go for short leisurely walks and walks well on the leash. If you are looking for someone to bring lots of love and companionship to your life - look no further! Buddy has been waiting a long time for someone to walk into the shelter and fall in love with him. Some days, he gets sad and wonders why it has taken such a long time - but we are all hoping it will be well worth the wait - when the perfect person walks in and we will all say "It was meant to be."

Buddy was happy to pose for his Halloween photos with one of his favorite friends at the shelter. He knew he was the cutest "pumpkin" ever! No "tricks" from Buddy - just lots of "treats" - including "kisses" and "snuggles". HAPPY HALLOWEEN from BUDDY and all his friends at the Taunton Shelter!

"Dogs are our link to paradise... To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace." (Milan Kundera)

Cat of the Month

LEXUS, The October Cat of The Month

My name is LEXUS. I am a female DSH Tiger. My family could no longer take care of me. I am now here waiting for an adoptive family, I did not think I would ever be at this place in my life. Homeless and waiting. It is difficult to get used to cage life, slowly I am adjusting. What keeps me going is the thought that this is only a temporary stay. I hope you are looking for me. I have a special adoption fee, please come soon. Oh, and...have you ever seen whiskers as long as mine?!

"It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that lies within. We are Rescue." (Kathie Sullivan-Parkes)
"Save them one at a time, love them all, mourn for those we cannot save, and thank doG that we have been given this special gift of love for all those creatures we hold dear to our hearts" (Terry Murphy)
"Rescue dogs aren't broken, they've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human, we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write, the ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Don't pity a rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness by your side."

Would you like to feel loved and appreciated? Are you unable to adopt a pet, but would like to spend time with them? Would you like to get some exercise in the great outdoors?
