BUDDY is a male Lab/Am Staff mix, about 1 year old. He was adopted from our shelter as a pup and recently returned due to his allergies. He is not only a "special" guy, in that he is sweet, mellow, and so very loveable... but he is also "special needs". Buddy appears to have allergies which have predominantly affected his feet - which leads us to believe he may have been allergic to something in the home or yard. He will need someone who will be dedicated to bringing Buddy for allergy testing and who will follow through on testing and administering any meds, ointments, special baths, supplements, etc that may be prescribed. (There is lots of information on the internet regarding canine allergies. ) Buddy is very good in the tub for baths, and also good with any meds needed. As you can see from the above photo, Buddy is a little on the shy side. He also does not appear to have had much interaction with toys. He will need someone who will also show him how to play and be a "pup" and enjoy life once again. He walks well on the leash. Buddy enjoyed the attention of his friend in the photo and did not mind dressing up for our photo shoot. In Western movies, you often see the Cowboy with his horse - who he considers his best friend - ride off into the sunset... Buddy is hoping to find his "best friend" soon and would be very happy to hop into your car and "ride off into the sunset" to his new happy-ever-after home.

Please ask... ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED WHEN OLD ENOUGH - either prior to adoption, or you can purchase a spay/neuter certificate at the time of adoption, if the animal has not yet been spayed or neutered, for some reason.

HAPPY TAILS! :) ... Approximately 51 dogs were adopted from January through April and became someone's new "best friend". Of these 51, (12) were seniors, (2) were special needs and we also adopted (1) pair of dogs to the same home. A very special THANK YOU to those families who opened their homes and hearts to our seniors and special needs dogs!
Please take a moment and read "Charlotte's Story"... An inspiration to all - Miss Charlotte was a happy and brave girl until the very end. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was a wonderful example of the rewards of adopting senior pets and/or pets who are ill. It is with great sadness, that Miss Charlotte went to Rainbow Bridge the morning of 5/2/05.
Please also take a moment to read about our sweet Cocoa, who sadly also went to Rainbow Bridge on 7/7/07. Cocoa was also an inspiration to all and loved by all who knew him ....
