Who We Are

Big Fluffy Dog Rescue of New England is affiliated with Tennessee Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, a 501(C)(3) non-profit, rescue group headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. Big Fluffy Dog Rescue values dogs of all breeds, but specializes in what the name says: big, fluffy dogs. We have volunteers in several states in the South and New England who want to help homeless, fluffy dogs find a place to call their own. We do not have a shelter and all our dogs are in private foster homes. Our ability to help dogs is directly related to the availability of foster space. We are always grateful for foster volunteers or other donations of time or goods.

Adopting a friend

Adoption requires an application with reference checks and a home visit. We do out of state adoptions regularly. All our dogs are strictly indoor companions. We do not do livestock guardian dog placements as most of our dogs would be particularly bad livestock guardians. In simple terms, our dogs would probably think chickens are tasty. Adoptions are made on a best home basis. If two excellent applications come in for the same dog, it's first in time, first in line. Our goal is to have the very best home for all our dogs. All the dogs listed are in private foster homes either in the South or in several states in New England waiting to be adopted.

The Southern dog connection

Many of our dogs come from southern states where spay neuter laws do not exist and where the pet overpopulation problem is critical. Hundreds of thousands of extremely adoptable dogs and puppies are euthanized every year in the South as there simply are not enough homes for the dogs who end up in shelters. We rescue dogs from southern shelters and house them in foster homes in the South until they are ready to come to foster homes in the New England area. We use a USDA- licensed transport company to bring dogs from the South to New England. Transport is a weekly occurrence and fosters and adoptive homes meet the transport at points from Virginia to New Hampshire. We strictly adhere to all laws regarding the transport of animals. Many times adoptions are long-distance and a dog goes directly from our southern homes to a northern home. We encourage our adopters to talk to the foster parents to learn about the dog they are interested in. If a dog is locally fostered, we are happy to schedule a meet and greet.

How to reach us

All of us are volunteers with full time jobs. Many of us have demanding family and work schedules. We try our very best to be responsive and the best means of reaching us is by e-mail. E-mail simplifies the process and creates an electronic paper trail that helps us keep track of adopters. If you do not hear from us, try again. Spam folders are the bane of rescues everywhere.

WE NEED FOSTERS

Big Fluffy Dogs currrently has an influx of dogs needing foster homes. If you have always wanted a big fluffy dog, but were not sure you could commit to a dog for the long term, fostering is a great way to enjoy the breed for a short term commitment. We have dogs in need of foster homes from puppies to seniors and everything in between.

Sponsor a Dog

If you would like to help by sponsoring a dog, you can donate here. Funds are always welcomed to help pay for the medical needs of the dogs, for boarding and for things like Frontline. All donations are tax deductible.
