South Shore Humane Society is a non-profit (501C) all volunteer organization that was started in 1974. The organization got started when an article appeared in the newspaper about the plight of animals in the local pounds. Several woman were concerned and got together to start a local humane society that could help place the animals with a column called Around the Pounds and is still in existence today in the Patriot Ledger out of Braintree/ Quincy. We do not have a shelter and our main focus is on spay/neuter assistance. We do have a few foster homes for the animals that need our assistance.
