Who We Are

Cat Action Team of Fitchburg (CAT-Fitchburg) is a non-profit, no-kill spay/neuter organization that was founded in June 2000 to help feral and other cats who are abused or abandoned. We are deeply committed to eliminating the suffering and controlling the overpopulation of homeless cats and kittens. Please NOTE: We do NOT have a shelter and cannot take owner-surrenders.

In addition to providing adoption services, we coordinate foster home placement for special needs animals, socialize feral cats/kittens, and support and run programs in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). We have set up and implemented feeding stations for feral cat colonies, provided medical treatment, and funded hundreds of spays and neuters, enabling those people with limited resources to keep their cats healthy and safe.

Adopting a friend

Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment that deserves careful consideration. Adoption forms are available online, and appointments to meet our cats can be scheduled upon request.

Our adoption fees are $100 per cat, and $125 per kitten. Adoption fees cover medical care including spaying/neutering, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) testing, and vaccinations.

2002:

2001:

1999-2000:

Organized Grey 2-K project to increase public awareness of the pain and suffering endured by Greyhounds for many years.

CAT-Fitchburg contacted art departments in area schools including Malden High School and Pope John High School and also attracted the interest of individuals and organizations outside the school system. Greyhound Network News sponsored the project, donating funds for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes.

The resulting exhibition showcased pupils’ artwork depicting the plight of the greyhounds and was prominently displayed in Dorick Hall in the State House. Grey 2-K met with enthusiastic response from the community, received media coverage from Everett Cable TV, and was viewed by hundreds of visitors.

Thanks to all the students and the art teachers, and special thanks to Kara Holmquist from the MSPCA for help with this important event.
