The Southwick Animal Shelter wants to wish each and every one near and far a very happy Holiday Season

Southwick Animal Shelter is always finding information out there. A semi new site for those looking for dogs is here. This site has so much information on what to look for when getting a puppy/dog, whether you buy from a breeder or get one from a rescue or shelter. Please be sure to research the dog your thinking of getting to be sure its a good family fit. Check out www.PupQuest.org for great information. The shelter is always looking for foster homes for our animals. We currently have cats looking for forever homes that would flourish in a foster until their forever home could be found. Occasionally we look to foster our dogs. If you would be interested in fostering a cat or dog, please contact our shelter by calling 413-569-5348 ext 649 or you can email us at aco@swkpd.com.

Bring home a senior, they have lots of love left to give. Our seniors right now are cats. Many of them have been here for a while and would be so much happier in a home environment. Check out Lilly, Tux, Sonya

Remember the shelter animals that haven't found their forever homes yet. Even one can of food, one toy, one word of mouth that they're here helps each one to maybe have hope of finding their forever home.

Reminders for the upcoming season:

Winter is coming fast an furious. The holidays are right around the corner. In the midst of all the hubbub, our pets sometimes get underfoot or forgotten. Please remember that some plants are poisonous to our companions so keep a close eye on that. Tinsel can be lethal to cats by knotting up in the intestines if eaten. Watch the young companions as some are chewers and may aim for the electrical cords.

Cold weather can be cause for concern especially on our older companions. Be careful not to leave them out for too long in the bitter winds and wet weather. Check their feet, especially between the pad for signs of ice melt, ice balls and clean them well so our buddies don't get ill or have issues with frostbite.

SPONSORS NEEDED!

We have a couple of cats that live at the shelter due to medical issues. Folks don't want to take on the problems of these guys and we totally understand that, so we're asking for help to keep them as healthy as we can. The first cat.......Homer, is up for adoption. Homer has bowel issues and because of that needs to be on a special diet and some probiotics. The food alone costs a lot of money, but we try hard to keep it in stock for him. Homer eats ID dry and uses a prescription probiotic. If you'd like to sponsor Homer monetarily please put HOMER in the memo. Our second cat is Powder. Powder is also up for adoption but because of his special needs nobody has wanted to adopt him. He has urinary blockage issues. Powder eats CD diet which is also quite expensive. His canned and dry costs a large amount of money, but again we try hard to keep it in stock. Powder is the sweetest guy and so is Homer. For that reason, they can hang out with us, but it would really help if we could get sponsors to help offset their costs. If your interested in sponsoring Powder, please put POWDER in the memo. All monetary donations for these guys will be put in a special account to cover their costs. Thanks in advance for your help.

REMEMBER US

We are not disposable We feel, We love, We hurt, We breathe, We have a pulse, We are alive.

We are not disposable. When we feel, We show kindness. When we love, We give it freely. When we hurt, We turn to you.

We are not disposable. When we want you, You should be there. When we need you, You should care. When we die, It should be in your arms.

We are not disposable Remember us.

WISH LIST

We here at the shelter understand that the economy is in very rough shape. We understand that the holidays are here and money is tight.
