When thinking of adopting a dog please bring your family with you, including other dogs that may be part of your family already. We will not adopt out any dog or cat without meeting yours first. The most common reason we hear why a cat is surrendered is due to allergies. Please if you or your family have known allergies then don't adopt a cat that will eventually come back to the shelter. Please research the breed traits before adopting a dog. You will have to be responsible for teaching your new family member his/her manners. Basic training will make both you & your dog, happy. Vet References and Landlord's Approval required before finalization of any Adoption.

Who We Are
Norton Shelter had been in the works for over 7 years. The shelter opened in June, 2002. Brian Plante is the animal control officer & animal inspector. The shelter was largely constructed by Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School. We wish to thank them for all their hard work, helping to make Norton Shelter possible.
Norton Animal Shelter counts largely on donations. We thank our friends Seana Dowling & her staff at PoundHounds for the medical assistance they are giving our shelter dogs. Thanks to them our dogs have been able to receive much needed medical care, vaccines & spay/neutering. A big thanks for putting Norton Shelter dogs on PoundHounds web site too. We are truly grateful to this wonderful all breed rescue group
One of our own volunteers, Dianne Santos has now started grooming at VI PET GROOMING ON Rte 44 Taunton. Call 774-218-2493 to set up an appointment with Dianne when it is time for your pets grooming after his or her adoption. All shelter dogs will be given a discount on their first grooming.
