"Supporting Our Deployed Service Members and the Canine Mascots They Love":

Military Mascots: www.adoptpaws.org/mascots/

It's amazing how much one person can do to help animals. I would like to encourage you to make a difference in the life of at least one animal. How to help? Consider these ideas:

  1. Sponsor an animal. You can dramatically help improve the life of an animal by donating just a few dollars;

  2. Donate blankets, toys and food your local pounds and shelters. Many dogs sleep on cold, cement floors. As a result, they develop skin lesions and their bones become stiff and sore. A blanket would make their stay at the shelter more comfy;

  3. Going for a drive to visit a friend or family member? There are animals all over the country "waiting" for rides from shelters to rescues. Transporting an animal, even from Providence to Boston, might mean saving a life.

To learn more about sponsoring, donating and transporting an animal, please just send us an email. We have lots of great ideas.

10 Commandments For A Responsible Pet Owner

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends and your entertainment. I HAVE ONLY YOU!
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll NEVER forget it.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush bones in your hand, but I CHOOSE not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps, I am not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun/cold to long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, you are all that I have and I LOVE YOU!

Adopting a friend

Are you interested in adopting a dog from our organization?
The first step in our adoption process is filling out the application. Once we have your application, we will review it to see if the dog that you like would be a good match for you. On the application, we ask for two personal references, a vet reference (if applicable) and you will have to commit to a homecheck.
