HELP THE DOGS OF KATRINA!!
We have had many inquiries on how people can help the animals that have lost homes and loved ones in the Hurricane. The Dept. of Agriculture is not letting small rescue group such as A2Z bring up these dogs, but they are allowing the Humane Society of the US and the Animal Rescue League of MA bring in 300 dogs. Please DONATE to their websites. They need funds to move and save these dogs, cats and other animals. A2Z will keep you updated if any other help is needed as the dogs come in to MA.

TOYS 4 DOGS

We started this program we call
Toys 4 Dogs in November 2003. We had such a fantastic
outpouring of gifts that we sent to all different
shelters, we decided to keep this program going
throughout the year.
These donations will go directly to dogs who are
waiting patiently in shelters to get adopted
or to find a foster home. We hope it makes their
days seem a little brighter. We are collecting new dog
toys, treats, rawhide chews and new collars
for these dogs. You can bring your toy donations

POTTY TRAINING

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training
tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up
newspaper if your dog chews up something innappropriate
or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the
destroyed object(or mess), then take the rolled-up
newspaper... and hit yourself over the head as you repeat
the phrase,
"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT
TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Deposit Required
An application must be submitted.
Your vet (and personal reference) will be contacted to check your pet history.
A home visit will be made.
Adoption fee of between $250 to $350 is required for dogs and puppies.

 Since we are an all volunteer group and have a huge shortage of foster homes, we have no place for these dogs to go when they arrive here from down south or other foster care. We MUST have a permanent home lined up before we can agree to place the dog on any transport. Therefore, we will only try to transport the dogs that have deposits on them.
Your serious commitment to adopting a dog REQUIRES AN INITIAL DEPOSIT OF $100 which is due upon completion of your initial interview with an A2Z volunteer.

Did You Know:
  • Approximately 25% of the dogs at shelters are pure bred dogs (HSUS estimate).
  • The animals at animal control shelters are not "problem" animals. The animals available for adoption have been picked up as strays or taken from the owner for abuse, or neglect. They are truly in need of a loving home and are greatly appreciative for a second chance at life.
  • An animal is euthanized in the U.S. every 2 seconds.
  • 61% of dogs and 75% of cats are killed at shelters.
  • 4 to 6 Million dogs and cats are euthanized each year (HSUS estimate).
  • 7 puppies and kittens are born for every human born.
  • 420,000 cats can be produced by a female cat and her 7 offspring in 7 years.
  • 67,000 dogs can be produced by a female dog and her off-spring in 6 years.
