ADOPTION HOURS
Come meet the kitties!!!!! We hold adoption hours every Thursday, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., First Church of Somerville, 89 College Avenue, Davis Sq. T stop just a few blocks away
This year, St. Meows rescued more than 200 cats in need. Many of these cats were rejected by other shelters. Among them, four cats ejected from their home and left on the streets of Mattapan after their owner was murdered, a cat spotted draggings its back legs down a main street in North Cambridge, an elderly female cat unbelievably with a litter of kittens abandoned behind in an apartment complex in Somerville; a dozen cats left behind by their owners in the Charlestown housing projects, and one very emaciated cat with a broken leg dragging itself from door to door in Malden begging for help, just to name a few. Sadly, the list goes on. We know you have your holiday shopping to do, but please consider including St. Meows on your shopping list and make a donation. However, great or small, it will help the many strays living on the streets among us - they have no door to knock on for help or hotline to call. These precious creatures only have organizations like St. Meows and true no kill shelters are far and few between. Help us continue to help them. We accept online donations on both our petfinder website and at www.saintmeows.com. We also accept donations by mail and of course in person at our adoption hours. We often have to go out late at night for these poor strays and very often into dangerous neighborhoods.
WISH LIST: Towels, towels, towels! Also need paper towels, paper or plastic plates, twin fitted sheets, wet food, and dry food for feeding sites. Please no blankets - too hard to keep clean)
FOSTER HOMES NEEDED
Saint Meows is facing increasing demands to help not just strays, but surrenders of cats that are fully acclimated to a home setting. It is these cats for which we are seeking foster homes. Placing cats that have lived in their own homes help ease the painful reality they endure of being abandoned by the owners they loved. The average length of a foster home is one month. If you have room to spare or spare room to spare and would like to open up your heart and home to a kitty in need, please contact Saint Meows, either by emailing us, phoning us, or stopping by in person. We’re happy to answer any questions regarding our foster care program. Thank you!
*One out of every 10 Americans spend an average of $3,000 a year trying to figure out how to get a parent, spouse, or their children to love them. Pet owners spend nothing to get their cat or dog to love them. They just do, no matter what. Yet a growing number of Americans are chucking out their cat like yesterday’s newspaper. Think before your get rid of your pet. You may be throwing away the only being that will ever love you the way you wish everyone else did.
Please be aware that the Boston MSPCA and the Animal Rescue League are not nokill shelters. If you bring a cat to either of these shelters, there's a very good chance it will be euthanized.
REMEMBER LIKE ANYTHING IN LIFE, PETS ARE ONLY AS IMPORTANT AS WE MAKE THEM IN OUR LIVES!
