IT'S THE BIG KAHUNA!!!

At 20 pounds it is easy to see how this middle aged man got his name. Kahuna is at least 3 to 4 pounds over weight. But don't tell him cause he doesn't know it. He thinks he is a mini doxie and loves to sit in your lap just like the smallest of dogs. Kahuna is approximately 8 years old. .
Homes Needed For Canine Senior Citizens
CAN YOU BE A HOME TO A SENIOR CITIZEN??? We have several senior citizens and we love them dearly. Old, little dogs who find themselves in desperate situations will always have a place with us. But we are always happy when they can find a home of their own to retire to. The perfect retirement home is quiet with no children below teenage years. A home that is settled with maybe no other dogs or just one other small dog. Most of our old "babies" have very small or no fees at all. They, and we, are just looking for a home they can live out their lives. If you think you can provide a loving, safe, quiet home for one of our geriatric dogs, please contact us.
Who We Are
We are a very small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to finding homes for neglected, abused and unwanted Chihuahuas. We also will take in, on occasion, other small dogs. We do not have a "shelter" and the dogs are fostered in homes along with our families and our own fur children. All of our dogs are fully vetted. All dogs will be spayed or neutered. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!! Any medical conditions will have been cared for. We will try our best to adopt out healthy dogs, matching the "right" dog to the "right" family.
Adopting a Friend
If you would like one of our foster fur children to become a part of your family, the first step is to fill out our
online
Adoption Application.
Requirements for adoption are: you must be 18 years of age or older; you must have identification showing your present address; you must have the knowledge and consent of your landlord; you must be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, support and care of a pet; you must have a fenced in yard or agree to walk the dog on a leash at all time; you must provide past and current vet references; all animals on your premises MUST be spayed or neutered (barnyard animals are the exception); you must have a viable, steady source of income; you must agree that the dog will be an "inside" dog and last, you must submit to a home check.
Again, we will try to match the right dog to the right family which means that the dog you pick out may not be "right" for your family and your situation. But that doesn't mean we may not have another "perfect" dog for you.
Donations
Because we take in and treat dogs that are older and often ill, our vet bills are almost always more than our adoption fee. Therefore, we accept and encourage donations. Maybe a new or additional dog is not in your plans for now but you can still help with dogs that desperately need us and YOU. If you would like to make a donation to Chi.P.P. Rescue you can use our PayPal link below or make a check payable to Chi.P.P. Rescue of LA, 5901 Coulee Road, New Iberia, LA 70560. If you would like to be a rescue angel to a particular dog let us know and we will add your name to his/her bio as their special rescue angel.

Many Thanks to our generous supporters:
Linda S.- a long time, consistant supporter.
A donation has been made by Sandra J. in memory of Anna Monica. Anna was a devoted animal lover and a generous supporter of rescue. She will be missed. Brian Denis, in honor of Gus, the doxie.
 | The majority of our dogs come from our local animal control. We would like to provide some amount of comfort for the dogs while they are in the shelter. These dogs must lay on cold, wet concrete floor. We are asking that you consider donating a Kuranda bed and give these unwanted, throw away dogs this small bit of comfort. We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a dog bed, please click here. |
