Who We Are
Support Alliance for Stray Animals was formed because the founder wanted to provide a safety net for ordinary citizens who wanted to rescue a pet out of the street, but didn't have the funds to pay for the vet bills and other expenses that come when one rescues a homeless animal. In doing so we hope to decrease the number of animals that are brought to the local animal shelters where 80% of animals who are brought in are euthanized. There are too many animals and not enough responsible homes for all of them. We hope our efforts will help to put even a small dent in the numbers of animals ending up in area shelters.
Adopting a friend
It is said that it's easier to adopt a human child then a pet from us. We do have strict adoption guidelines but, that is to ensure that the animals we adopt out are going to forever homes and will never find themselves homeless again. We are pretty flexible in most of our requirements, but there is one requirement that is not flexible. No animal that is adopted from us can be surgically altered in appearance for any reason, i.e., no declaw, no ear cropping or tail docking. We consider these procedures to be mutilation of an animal.
Come Visit Us!
We do not have a public facility where we house our animals, but rather have the help of foster homes. Please call for an appointment (504) 305-5013 to view any of our adoptable pets.
