Lake Area Partnership for Animal Welfare

Who We Are:

LAPAW Animal Rescue works to provide a SECOND CHANCE for homeless, abused, and neglected companion animals. We have found homes for hundreds of animals and are always looking for new volunteers who would like to help with our attempts to improve the lives of local animals. Are you interested in becoming a foster parent or just want to help in some other manner? Come by and talk to us any Saturday at Petsmart. We welcome the chance to talk with people interested in helping animals.

How We Operate:

Our group is made up of Lake Area residents who, by working together to raise funds have committed to helping homeless dogs receive a second chance at finding a home. We operate by holding fundraisers and receiving donations (all donations are tax deductible). We are not part of any publicly run facility so we do not receive funds except those that we are able to raise. Donations are used to provide vaccinations, heartworm treatment, heartworm preventative, spay/neuter, etc. None of our group receives compensation for the work that we do. Please help us rescue those dogs in the Lake Area in need of help. Effective April 1, 2010, LAPAW Rescue became LAPAW Animal Rescue & TNR. We have merged with a new local cat rescue, Broken Collars, to begin cat adoptions although our primary work with be with trap, neuter, release (TNR). At the present time, there are no groups working with TNR in the Lake Area so the need is critical. We will be seeking grants for this work and welcome any donations as there are no adoption fees available to cover the cost of vetting the cats. You may donate through PAYPAL--please note TNR on your donation so it can be used specifically for this project. Our adoption fee for cats is $100. All cats are fully vetted and negative for FIV/AIDS.

We do not have a facility to house our animals. All animals are fostered in the homes of volunteers. All animals we place are homeless and are deserving of a second chance at a happy life. Our goal is to give them that second chance. Our greatest need continues to be finding foster homes for rescued dogs and cats.

Up coming Events:

We are at PetsMart every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:30 every Saturday and would love to visit with potential volunteers. As of July, 2011, we are also at PetsMart on Sundays from 1:00- 3:30 on the first, third, and fourth Sundays of each month. We are there with our foster dogs who are looking for their new forever loving families. We have two cat cages to house our rescue cats. They are available for adoption during PetsMart's store hours as well as on Saturday during our regular adoption hours.

We have discount coupons for low-cost spay/neuter with some local vets. If you are interested in getting one of these please come by Petsmart and talk with us; we will be happy provide you with one; or, email us and we will be happy to mail one to you.

Volunteer Information and News:

Volunteers are also available to speak to your civic group about our accomplishments and goals for the Lake Area. It only takes a few people to make a small difference. No time to volunteer or make a donation? You can help us by just telling everyone you know about us.

Our adoption fees:

Our pet adoption fees are $100.00 for mixed breed dogs and $150.00 for the pure breeds. These fees go toward the health check done by a local vet, all shots, and the spay or neuter of the animals. All heartworm positive dogs are treated prior to adoption. We ask for an additional $50.00 to cover half of the cost for the treatment. Cat adoptions are also $100. We realize this is slightly more than the fee at other agencies; however, we feel it is critical to test each cat for FIV/AIDS. The extra $20. helps with the extra cost of these tests.

LAPAW Rescue is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization; all donations are tax-deductible. LAPAW Animal Rescue
