Who We Are

The Pike County Animal Shelter has been open for 18 years. It has sheltered more than 48,000 animals in that time. We are a part of the Pike County Fiscal Court and are over seen by that governing body. We also work along with the Pike County Humane Society, a non-profit organization that works in conjunction with the shelter to improve
the lives of animals in our county.

Volunteer and Foster

Volunteer
The Pike County Animal Shelter is in urgent need of volunteers and fosters.
If you have just a few hours to spare to volunteer at the shelter it will be worth the doggie kisses and cat purrs you'll receive. You'll be amazed at what a difference your time spent will mean to the animals. If you can volunteer please contact us at the email address below
or stop by the shelter.
Foster
Providing a home atmosphere is what we strive for most with our adoptable pets. If you can share your home and share your love with one of our adoptable cats or dogs please contact us at the email address below or stop by the shelter.

Adopting a friend

If you are looking for a new companion, give us a visit. We are open for adoptions on Mondays from 2 PM until 6 PM and Tuesday through Friday 11 AM until 4 PM. The shelter is closed on weekends and holidays except for special adoption days which will be advertised on local radio stations. The adoption fees are: Dogs/Pup - $50.00; Cats/Kits - $35.00. This fee does cover initial vaccine, deworming, spay or neuter and a county tag for the dogs. Spaying or neutering is mandatory. We also have gift certificates.

Where To Find Us

We are located in Pikeville, Ky., Pike County, which is the eastern most county in the state. US Route 23 runs straight through Pikeville, so this helps make it a little easier to get to us.

Directions

Now for exactly where we are located...........
Okay, this can be the tricky part! The shelter is located in Pauley Addition of Pikeville. The bridge leading to the sheltr is at the intersection of US 23 and US 119. Cross this bridge and stay on the main road - it will lead you to the LEFT. You will come to a stop sign. This is where you will see your first sign for the animal shelter. Make a LEFT turn at this stop sign. You are now on Thompson Road. In just about 8 tenths of a mile you will see another sign for the shelter. Just past this sign is a one lane road that runs between a chain link fence and the railroad tracks. Follow that drive and you wil come to where you have to cross the tracks and you will see holding tanks for the city waste water treatment plant. Follow the driveway and you'll see us behind the plant.
