L.I.F.E. for Pets (LIFE, Inc.)

Our Pet List

The human and animal bond is truly remarkable. Experience it for yourself by adopting an animal in need of a loving home.

Mission Statement

To promote the humane treatment of homeless animals and to decrease the number of those animals facing euthanasia through the increased awareness of the need for spaying, neutering, fostering, and placement in permanent, loving homes.

Who We Are

LIFE is a non-profit, 501C3 organization based in Clark County, dedicated in giving homeless animals a chance for a better life by rescuing, fostering, and adopting animals into loving homes. We are a group of volunteers concerned about pet overpopulation and educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering. We are funded solely by donations and fundraising efforts and could not save these precious animals without your support.

Our Goal

LIFE for Pets goal is to eventually do away with the need for unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable animals at our local shelter. We have already successfully campaigned to get legislation in place requiring every animal adopted from the shelter to be altered before it is adopted. As a result of pet overpopulation there is an abundance of suffering stray animals on our streets searching for shelter, their next meal, or sadly, dying needlessly from various diseases or accidents. It is our prayer that more pet owners will see the need in having their animals altered which will help us in our efforts to save these furry companions.

Donations, Adoptions and Fostering

LIFE for Pets is more than just a spay and neuter organization. Many members have opened their homes and hearts to homeless animals. Being a foster parent is hard work but very rewarding for us, the animal, and for the grateful new owners. Our volunteers love the animals in foster care as if they were their own, therefore, we want to insure that our animals are going to the best possible home through our approval process which includes an application, home visit, and a fenced in yard if adopting a dog or puppy. We sponsor regular remote adoptions at PETsMART in Lexington on Saturdays in an effort to get more homeless animals adopted.

Since our inception in March, 2000 we have to date saved the lives of well over 2500 pets (dogs, puppies, cats, kittens) through our efforts. However, there are many more animals waiting for our help. We would love to have you join us in our efforts. If you would like to volunteer to foster an animal in your home, be on our fund raising committee, or help us spread the word about LIFE for Pets please contact us at the address, phone number, or email address below. We also welcome donations of food, dog houses, pet carriers and monetary donations. We are a non profit organization and donations are tax deductible.

The adoption fee for animals in foster care with LIFE for Pets is $100.00 to $200.00 for dogs and puppies and $85.00 for cats and kittens. Our fee covers their vet visit, spay/neuter operation, UTD on shots, microchip, deworming, heartworm and flea/tick prevention for dogs and puppies, flea prevention for cats and kittens. All dogs over 6 months are heartworm tested and cat/kittens are feline combo tested.

Come Join us: Our meetings are the last Tuesday of each month at the Clark County public library located on Burns Ave. at 6:00pm.
