You may not see many pets available for adoption. This is because we are limited by the number of open foster homes that we have. Can you open your home to a pet in need and help us save the lives of shelter dogs? Visit our main website www.gbcr.org if you would like more information about becoming a foster home. It's so rewarding and fun and we pay for the major expenses like vet care and a crate!
Good Buddies Canine Rescue began in the fall of 2009 by some local animal lovers wanting to make a difference. GBCR focuses on the rescue of Shepherd mixes and black dogs. Many animals are euthanized across the state of Kentucky due to pet overpopulation and lack of adoptive families in rural areas. GBCR strives to bring rural dogs that have fewer chances of adoption to the greater Cincinnati area in order to provide them with better opportunities. We are all volunteers and we do this in addition to the other things going on in our lives because we love Good Buddies! We are a non-profit in the state of Kentucky and are a 501(c)3 organization.
All dogs in the care of GBCR will be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption. No exceptions.
We require an adoption application to be filled out. You can find this form here. Our minimum adoption donations are $150 for adult dogs and $160 for puppies. This allows the dog to receive all necessary medical care. We do a home visit and a doggie meet & greet prior to adoptions. We do not do same-day adoptions. We do our best to make lifetime dog-family matches and please keep this in mind as we work through the application process.
All of our animals live in foster homes, and can be seen by appointments. We do not have a central location you can visit because we are not a shelter or humane society. Please don't hesitate to fill out an adoption application if you would like to meet any of our adoptable buddies!
