February 14 is Valentine's Day therefore our featured pets are Pixie and Tebow. Pixie and Tebow are brother and sister and never leave each other's side. They sleep together, play together, and very rarely are far apart. Because of their special bond I will not adopt them out unless they remain together.
Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed.
February is National Prevent a Litter Month and February 28 is World Spay Day. I hope everyone participates in some form of celebration Check out www.worldspayday.org to see what you can do. Sugarfoot Farm Rescue has joined with Lifebridge to distribute vouchers for low cost spay/neuter at Day & Day Feed and Tractor Supply Co. on February 11. Pets adopted from Sugarfoot Farm Rescue, Inc. are vaccinated, wormed and spayed or neutered. We feed out 100 pounds of dog food a day. Emergencies happen and this causes unplanned expenses. Shelters, rescues, and foster homes have a common goal – to reduce the pet population and improve the care of our animals. I want to share what I’ve learned. We are all in this together. Plus the most important key to success in any project is VOLUNTEERS! I would like to meet with concerned citizens and pet lovers of all ages who also want to erase the homelessness and abuse problem of our pets. Please contact me if you're interested. Sugarfoot Farm is located in Columbia, KY on 115 acres. The yard is fenced in so the dogs here run free and have acess into the house via a pet door. They are all socialized and used to people and other animals. I learn the personalities of each dog before I place it for adoption. We do not have an adoption "fee" we just ask for a donation. All we ask is that if you can't keep the dog you return it to us. We also have a horse transportation business and travel as far north as New England and as far south as Florida and all parts east and west. So if you see a dog you like we can probably bring it to you. The rescue has been approved as a non profit organization. All donations to Sugarfoot Farm Rescue, Inc. are tax deductible. We would also appreciate you donating some time to work with the dogs. We need volunteers who can walk dogs, brush them, throw a ball, just spend some time with them. The more socialized the dogs are the better their chances of being adopted.
NEWS! - Any dog adopted from our rescue will be microchipped. So if at any time your dog gets lost it will have a permanent form of identification so you can be reunified with it's new family.
We have an application we have you complete when adopting a dog. We ask the following:
DOG ADOPTION AGREEMENT
1. I agree to provide my dog with proper food, fresh clean water, appropriate shelter & adequate protection from heat and cold; and kind treatment at all time. I agree to keep it in a safe place.
2. I agree to provide the dog with annual vet checks, vaccinations and proper medical treatments of illnesses and injuries at my own expense.
3. I agree that I will purchase a dog license for the county in which I reside. I will obtain a rabies tag, as required by state and local law. I also agree to abide by all local and state laws regarding animal control.
4. If at any time I cannot keep this dog, I will return it to Sugarfoot Farm Rescue, Inc. and will not give it away or otherwise dispose of it.
5. I agree not to allow my dog to be used for medical or other experimental usage.
6. I understand and agree to all the above requirements and obligations for adopting this animal.
We are located off of the Louie Nunn parkway, exit 46. Take route 61 south for approximately 5 miles. At the top of the hill you will see route 768 on the left - Sparksville Road. We are 8/10's of a mile down on the left. You can't miss us. You'll see the horses in the field and a sign that says "Sugarfoot Farm". The welcome mat is always out!
