Our Featured Pet...

November is "Adopt A Senior Pet Month". One of our Seniors, May May, a Corgi/Chihuahua mix, went to her new home in Elizabethtown with a nice woman who will love her. Betsy, our other Senior, who is a Cocker Spaniel mix, is wondering if someone will come and take her. She's a very sweet girl with the biggest brown eyes you've ever seen. Won't you come and give Betsy a try?

News

Sugarfoot Farm is participating in PetFinder's “Foster A Lonely Pet for the Holidays” program this year. Please be on the lookout for more information. It's Shelter Challenge time again. The last time we came in 11th place and we'd love to beat that this time. Please go to www.theanimalrescuesite.com and vote daily for Sugarfoot Farm. We'd really appreciate your support! On Monday, November 23 Bill Matley, who authored the book "How to Talk Dog" is coming to the farm to work with the dogs. He has appeared on Pet Star and David Letterman with his dogs. He is going to observe the dogs and then work with each one on an indivual basis. This will help our dogs to become more adoptable and better behaved. He will be coming for 2 days and will work with Keith and I as well as others who help us with the dogs. This should educational as well as very interesting for dogs and people as well.

Who We Are

Sugarfoot Farm is located in Columbia, KY on a 26 acre horse farm. The yard is fenced in so the dogs here run free and have acess into the house via a pet door. They are all socialized and used to people and other animals. I learn the personalities of each dog before I place it for adoption. We do not have an adoption "fee" we just ask for a donation. All we ask is that if you can't keep the dog you return it to us. We also have a horse transportation business and travel as far north as New England and as far south as Florida and all parts east and west. So if you see a dog you like we can probably bring it to you. The rescue has been approved as a non profit organization. All donations to Sugarfoot Farm Rescue, Inc. are tax deductible. We would also appreciate you donating some time to work with the dogs. We need volunteers who can walk dogs, brush them, throw a ball, just spend some time with them. The more socialized the dogs are the better their chances of being adopted.

Adopting a friend

We have an application we have you complete when adopting a dog. We ask the following: DOG ADOPTION AGREEMENT 1. I agree to provide my dog with proper food, fresh clean water, appropriate shelter & adequate protection from heat and cold; and kind treatment at all time. I agree to keep it in a safe place. 2. I agree to provide the dog with annual vet checks, vaccinations and proper medical treatments of illnesses and injuries at my own expense. 3. I agree that I will purchase a dog license for the county in which I reside. I will obtain a rabies tag, as required by state and local law. I also agree to abide by all local and state laws regarding animal control. 4. If at any time I cannot keep this dog, I will return it to Sugarfoot Farm LLC and will not give it away or otherwise dispose of it. 5. I agree not to allow my dog to be used for medical or other experimental usage. 6. I understand and agree to all the above requirements and obligations for adopting this animal.
