For more information on this poor boy's history, please read below:
11-17-09: Meet Brutus! He is a poor sweet boy who is looking for another chance in life. Brutus we rescued from a high kill shelter the day he was going to be euthanized for 'space'. He is a Mastiff, Brown/Reddish Brindle in color, and right now about 60lbs, (although when he gains the appropiate weight, he should weigh more than that.).
Brutus only has 3 legs. -Although he is missing a leg, he gets around fine and is active. He has obviously been attacked by another dog because his ears are ripped up. The way the vet described his ears were 'torn sails on a ship'. Brutus's teeth are worn, because of being without food for so long he had to scavenge around for whatever he could find, including rocks or anything he came across he thought he could eat. He also looks like a dog that was probably chained outside for a long time so he looks like he chewed on the chain, probably trying to get free.
Upon taking Brutus to the vet it was discovered that this poor boy was shot at and has some buckshot in in his ears and back. The vet was the one who discovered the bullets upon doing an xray, and even thought they are in his body, they do not need to be removed, and are no causing him any harm. -Just knowing this adds to the history of violence and pain this poor boy has been through.
When we took Brutus to the vet he did test Heartworm positive. We went ahead and treated him for the Heartworms, and he is ready to go home now.
Since we treated him for Heartworms, we need help raising the money to pay his vet bill for the heartworms. The amount of his vet bill is $646.64 .
Besides the wear and tear Brutus can be best described as a 'Gentle Giant'. He is housebroken, and we definately want to see him live indoors in a loving home for the rest of his life. Brutus is also great with other dogs, animals, and really anyone. The reason why we rescued him despite everything he has been through is because we really felt like he deserved another chance. He has been through so much hardship in his life that he really deserves to know what a loving home and a great life is like.
PLEASE CONSIDER SPONSORING THE ANIMALS (TOWARDS THEIR ADOPTION FEE) SO THAT THE ADOPTION FEES CAN COME DOWN AND THE ORPHANS WILL HAVE AN EASIER TIME FINDING A HOME.
If you can donate, please send donations to our Paypal account at mcfisher85@hotmail.com, or email us for the address to send check donations to. Thank you!!!
To see any of our other animals, please email us at mcfisher85@hotmail.com, or call 502-330-3431, you must be 18 to adopt, and serious inquiries only please!!! Thank you and we will look forward to hearing from you!!!
Hello and Welcome to Country Critters Animal Rescue's Petfinder page.
-We are a non-profit animal rescue located in Frankfort, KY.
-The animals we accept on a REGULAR basis are: Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Gerbils, Rats, Mice, Chinchillas, Ferrets, Degus, Sugar Gliders, Turtles, Hermit Crabs, Freshwater Fish, Frogs, and Geckos.
-Other animals that we will take on a CASE BY CASE BASIS are: Dogs, Cats, Puppies, Kittens, Lizards, Birds, Barnyard Animals, and baby wildlife needing to be nursed before being released into the wild.
The reason we must take these animals on a case by case basis is we must make sure we have time and capacity to care for the animals we already have, and we always try to leave room for the handicap and senior animals left in shelters that other rescues would not help.
-As of 11-7-09 (Last updated) we are opening a facility, but particularly with the dogs and cats would rather work out of foster homes. If you would like to help our rescue efforts and apply to become a foster home, please contact us today!
-For Adoptions, please check out our petfinder website at: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/KY280.html
Since we are a very small rescue group then we may need a few days to get back to your email or phone calls. This is due to the high volume of emails and phone calls we recieve. We will get back to everyone, so please be paitent.
