R.F.R. has rented a little place to make it an adoption center. We are in the process of cleaning, painting and making it a place where we can show our pets. We are holding a grand opening in the summer and visitors will be able to come meet our adoptable pets in person. It is going to be called "The Mutt Hut" and it is located in Crestwood behind the Feed and Seed Depot and beside of the Oldham County Bank.
Who We Are
Recycled Friends Rescue is a 501c3 non profit organization. We are a foster network that is made up of volunteers from the Louisville area and Southeast KY. It is a group of caring individuals dedicated to saving companion animals whose lives are in jeopardy. Animals are rescued from a variety of circumstances including abandonment, homeless populations, and high kill shelters. Volunteers bring these animals into their home for temporary foster care where they receive health care and socialization.. R.F.R is dedicated to improve, rehabilitate, and recycle pets into forever loving homes. We ensure that they receive a safe, healthy,loving environment for the rest of their lives. With a mandatory spay/neuter program in place, we also educate the public about pet over-population, and responsible humane pet care. We believe that one mans garbage is another mans recycled best friend.
Adopting a friend
The first step to adopting is filling out the online application that you can dowload at the botton of the page. We review them in the order in which we receive them. Emailing us is the best way to get in touch with us. We usually make our decision within the week of receiving the application. Our dogs are spread out across the state and sometimes take a week to transport them to our adoption location. Our adoption fees vary based on the medical treatment given. All of our dogs are completely vetted meaning they have been checked by a licensed Veterinarian. They are spayed or neutered, heartworm checked, microchipped and given all of their shots including Bordetella. They are also groomed, flea dipped and given their first preventive. Our adoption fees average around $200 to cover all of those cost. So your are really getting a free dog. We rely on donations to pay for our gas or other acquired expenses. Recycled Friends Rescue Adoption Application/By Appointment
R.F.R is partnered with Petsmart stores for onsite adoptions. We rotate every other Saturday at the store on Westport Rd. We also make home visits during the week by appointment.
