HI my name is Freckle Face because I have so many Freckles. I am a really good dog and just cannot begin to understand how I ended up at the pound. I am friendly and like other dogs. Do you suppose you might want a dog with freckles???? My pal in the photo has gone to a rescue so I sure would like out of here too. URGENT MESSAGE: JUNE 21, 2009 - The Rowan County Canine Shelter is FULL. We have worked very hard to keep all dogs alive and safe until they can get to a rescue or home. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the safety of any dogs on our web site as we cannot keep up with the current intake level. Please adopt a dog and spay/neuter your pets.
We are not the dog pound. We are a very small group of caring people who try to save dogs. Our goal is to get dogs out of the pound and to the safety of a rescue or a new home. Dogs that are at the pound are subject to walk-in adoptions that we cannot contol. They are also subject to being euthanized if the pound gets over capacity (this is a weekly occurrence). If you want to adopt a dog the adoption fee will include vet/boarding costs. When we foster a dog for more than a few days, another dog at the pound could die because we have no where to put it. We will only pull dogs from the pound that have a place to go.

The Rowan County Dog Shelter is always full! We need immediate assistance but please do not ask us to hold them for you as we have no foster space and are currently boarding dogs. Email us if you can help STARadoptions@yahoo.com
We can not help these dogs without your support. Please consider making a donation to help the dogs of Rowan County.
Rescue groups are most welcome however a reference check is required. Please contact us for additional information. Please do not ask us to hold dogs. We can help arrange transport.
