Saved to Serve is a program we developed in 1990. Twice yearly, Kentucky Working K9, now in partnership with Kentucky Service Dog Association, in hopes of making a bigger difference and growing the program, selects second hand dogs and matching partners for the purpose of Disability Assistance such as Mobility, Seizure assist, Diabetes assist, PTSD (fully trained and accredited), & various other, if you don't see it contact and ask someone.
to save the life of an otherwise unwanted or abandoned or euthanized animal and then utilize his or her special ability to enhance the lives of the humans in which he or she interracts with, thus... a life saved to serve another!
WHAT TO EXPECT TO FIND HERE.....
Kentucky Working K-9 Training & Rescue is a training facility that rescues homeless dogs of working group breeding on a space availability basis. We have experience training for:

HANDLER PROTECTION ... AREA GUARD ... ARTICLE FIND
and many other places in which you have seen dogs being used. Whether you want your existing dog trained or need a trained dog, please shop us.
We offer a program to assist canines and their owners for severe unwanted behaviors such as aggression towards people or other animals, inabilty to train and other problems. *If you have a dog that is becoming dominant or aggressive in nature and you aren't sure what to do, call Kentucky Working K-9 and allow us to provide you with a no cost evaluation to see if we can be of some assistance before you give up on your dog. We speak and understand the language of dog here.
SERVICE DOG TRAINING PROGRAM...
If you see a particular dog listed on our site marked "Service Dog"..this means this particular dog is being trained to assist with a disability. Some examples are Mobility Assistance, Medical Assist (such as Seizure or Diabetic), etc. If you have a need for a dog like this, and are interested in learning more, simply send us an email or call to gain further information and costs on individual dogs.
OUR ADOPTION RADIUS....
Kentucky Working K9 will adopt to all 50 states but you must travel to the facility to meet the dog. No shipping of animals. We do not meet half way. The dog shows its best and most correct personality and behavior on its home turf.
Individual fees listed with each dog. Handler Course always Included. in the quoted fee. Request application by email or phone. Once approved, adopter come meet the dog, if applicable, pay fee and take Handler Course with dog and leave with dog once educational requirements are met with dog.
I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.
And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly.
"I have done something," He replied.
