Kentucky Working K-9 Association currently services all 50 states with our working and service dogs.
WHO WE ARE...We pull homeless dogs from kill shelters and from urgent owner surrenders. Our first effort is the saving of the life of that dog. Once safe, we begin training with each dog to each dog's preferred level of activity and interest. Our training programs range from dogs that are just pets to those that have special desire to work.
Examples include: MOBILITY ASSISTANCE, GLUCOSE ASSISTANCE, PSYCHIATRIC DISORDER ASSISTANCE, SEIZURE RESPONSE, SEIZURE ALERT, TRACKING, SEARCH & RESCUE, POLICE K-9, SPECIALIZED DETECTION, and many other jobs that are typical of our canine friend. Our pet quality dogs are trained in Advanced Obedience and are Housebroken and are placed in matching homes as quality pets. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinations updated and kept on Interceptor and Frontline Plus namerbrand products and regularly groomed by a professional groomer and attend regular Interractive Doggie Daycare while in our care.
VOLUNTEERING FOR US....
We have an opening for a few more working foster homes in our area. Working fosters are people who would like to borrow and work a trained service dog for us in their home and let it accompany them to their daily routines while awaiting his or her placement into a permanent home. We provide everything the dog needs during working foster.
POLICIES & PROCEDURES
PET ADOPTIONS: Application & Telephone Interview. Approved adopter is invited to a 1 hour meet and greet with their dog. If successfull, sign adoption agreement and pay $350.00 adoption fee and proceed to a 3 Hour Handler Obedience Course with dog the day of adoption. Sessions are video recorded.
SERVICE DOG CONTRACTS: Application & Telephone Interview. Applicant to present physician referral for companion dog. Applicant invited to a 4 hour meet and greet with dog. If successfull, sign service dog agreement and pay $2,500.00 at completion of dog's training and proceed to a 60 Hour Certification & Training Course (approx. 8 days) receive vest, ID and certification. Sessions are video recorded.

And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly.
