The Powell County Dog Pound Petfinder Site is managed by Friends of Powell County's Pets, Inc. (FOPCP, INC), a small group of pet-lovers dedicated to saving the lives of companion animals. We joined together to improve the well-being of all animals in Powell County, focusing our effort on decreasing the The Pound's population.
FOPCP, INC members collaborate with Powell County's Animal Control Officer to increase the visibility of adoptable pets living at The Pound. We work tirelessly to place as many of these pets as possible in reputable rescues or responsible forever homes.
Adoption fees for animals currently in the pound vary. Fees include spay/neuter and vaccinations. Adopted pets must be spayed or neutered.
FOPCP, Inc. assumes ownership of all pets listed as being in foster care. Once in foster care, adoption fees for dogs under 1 year old are $90-100 depending on the amount of veterinary care received. Adoption fee for dogs 1+ years old is $70. The adoption fee for kittens and cats starts at $45. These fees cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and any other costs accumulated to maintain the pet's health while in foster care.
If you are interested in adopting any of the homeless pets listed on this site, please e-mail us at powell.rescue@yahoo.com.
We take a firm stance in support of spaying and neutering pets to reduce pet overpopulation in communities and animal shelters. FOPCP, INC sponsors regular low-cost spay and neuter clinics in the Powell County area. We are currently accepting registration calls for our next clinic. FOPCP, INC operates soley on generous donations from people like you. Donation collections are utilized to provide support for pets living at the pound, remove pets from the pound environment, obtain veterinary treatment, and supply foster parents with items necessary to support the pets in their care. To accomplish our mission, we have created a convenient method for collecting such donations. Your Donation will help us save animals! We cannot do it without your help!
We are always looking for responsible foster homes to help us start these wonderful animals on their path to a forever home.
Our need for loving foster homes is ongoing. Fostering is a rewarding way to become part of a rescued dog or cat's journey to a forever home. Fostering can last from just a few days to several months. The more foster homes we have the more dogs and cats we can save. Click here for a list of pets at this shelter
