‎(FOSTER CARE) As you may know we have the shelter "under construction" for some much needed renovations and we are super full. To help speed up the process of construction and to keep the dogs away from the dangerous materials like screws, metal shavings, and sawdust, and also STRESS. We are adding whats called "The Sleep Over".

"The Sleep Over" is a foster care program designed for the animal lover whose schedule is too hectic through the week to be an full-time Foster for a dog. "The Sleep Over" works like this: You, as a volunteer Foster come in Friday evening or early Saturday morning and pick up a dog and take them home with you for the weekend. And you bring him/her back to the shelter Sunday evening. This will empty the dog kennels for the contractors to have free run of the area and hopefully speed up the process. It will also give the dog a chance to get some extra attention that it so deserves.

We will provide the kennel or crate for that animal to sleep in at your home, and also provide you with food for the weekend. We are hoping that our volunteers will take this idea and run with it. It's a great chance for the animals to get bathed, groomed, loved on, and socialized.

If you are interested please call the shelter 859-643-3647. If you cannot do "The Sleep Over" you can sponsor a dog to go to Playpen Kennels for the weekend @ $7.00 a dog per day for three days $21.00 total. Friends of Gallatin Shelter, Inc. (FOGS) is a non-profit corporation contracted by Gallatin County, KY to manage the Gallatin County Animal Shelter and Animal Control.

It is our mission to enhance the lives of the animals at the shelter, to increase adoption rates, and increase spay/neuter for all county companion animals.
