LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC

We are so pleased to offer this low-cost spay/neuter program every Tuesday. We hope this step will have a marked impact on the pet overpopulation problem in our community and surrounding communities.

The costs are: $25 for male cats

$45 for female cats

$65 for male dogs

$75 for female dogs

There is an additional charge of $10 for pregnant animals and an additional $20 fee for dogs weighing over 60 pounds.

If you would like to schedule an appointment or would like more information about this program, please contact us at (502) 633 4033. We welcome pet owners inside and outside of Shelby County.

We also offer a low-cost vaccinations every other Tuesday of every month from 11am -3pm. No appointment needed. FVRCPs are $10.00, DA2PPs $10.00 and Rabies are $10.00. You may also have your pet microchipped during clinic hours for only $15.00. This is a completely safe way to help your pet find his or her way back home in the event that pet is lost. It is also important to have your pet microchipped for proper identification in the event of a disaster.

Our clinic is only minutes from Louisville's east end. To come to our clinic, follow I64 East to exit 35. th Turn left onto Hwy 53 North Travel North passing through the intersection of Hwy 53/55 and Hwy 60 passing Kroger on the left and Goodwill on the right. Turn right at the third right hand turn past Goodwill onto Mt. Vernon their will also be a sign that says High Point Industrial Park. Go a short distance and turn left on Hudson Blvd. we are at the end on the cul-de-sac.

ADOPTING A PET IS A FAMILY AFFAIR

We love it when our animals find their adoptive families. It is important when considering adopting any pet that it is a well thought out process that involves the whole family. Adopting a pet should never be an impulse decision. You are making a lifetime commitment to your new pet and this should never be done without careful and thoughtful planning. Every time a pet is returned it lessens their chances for another placement. If you're considering adopting a new pet, please take the time as a family to discuss it and have reasonable expectations of your new pet. It will be going through a lot of confusing changes and will need your patience and understanding. Love, patience and spending quality time with your pet are all important parts of pet ownership that will result in your having a wonderful new addition to your family.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

If you would like to find out about adopting an animal from our organization you can call the shelter. Our Office Manger/Adoption Coordinator will be happy to answer any of your questions. Our Kitty Cottage is open for cat adoptions Monday through Saturday from 1pm-6pm or by appointment . Please call 502 220 2014 if you need to schedule an appoinment.

All of our dogs are in foster homes and do not reside at the building on 7th Street. Contact 502 633-4033 to schedule a visit with a particular foster family to adopt one of our many wonerful dogs!

We run an adoption center at Petsmart 4601 Outer loop. Cats are available for adoption 7 days a week and dogs are available Friday from 6 pm-Sunday at 5pm only. You might just find your best friend. Stop by to meet the animals. Even if you aren't looking to adopt, the attention you give them aids with their socialization. Help us help the animals.

ADOPTION FEES for most of our animals: DOGS & PUPPIES- varies, see individual posting, Right now we are having BIG adoption specials on cats and kittens. At this time our adoption fees are as follows: CATS $10 and KITTENS- $25.00
Any exceptions to this will be noted in the PetFinder descriptions. All adoptions require an approved application. All adoptions fees are nonrefundable.

Our adoption fee covers the spay/neuter of the animals, deworming, frontline, current vaccines (we will cover the full set of puppy or kitten shots if you bring the animal to our clinic in Shelbyville on Tuesdays), feline leukemia test for cats, and heartworm test for dogs over 6 months of age,microchipping and 1 month of pet insurance through Sheltercare. An Adoption Application must be completed for each potential adoption and approved by a shelter representative also an Adoption Agreement must be signed at the time of adoption. The welfare of the animals in our care is of utmost importance. We make every possible effort to ensure that our animals are placed in safe and loving environments.

If you are interested in seeing an animal that isn't at the adoption site we will gladly get you in touch with the foster home, or set up a time to view the animal at one of our adoption centers. IF YOU ARE NOT YET A MEMBER OF THE SHELBY COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY WHY NOT CONSIDER MEMBERSHIP TODAY? All memberships are good for one year from the date of your tax deductible membership donation. The membership levels available are as follows: Junior Member (12 & Under): $10; Friend of the Animals:$20; Family Membership: $25; Business: $100; Corporation: $250; Lifetime Member: $500. VOLUNTEERING AND DONATIONS

We can always use volunteers in a number of areas such as fostering, education, fund-raising and volunteers to work at our office. We are always in need of more foster homes. If you are interested in fostering an animal, please call us. The more foster homes we have, the more animals we can save. Since we are a no-kill shelter, we can only make space for new animals when existing animals are adopted, or when we get more foster homes. Won't you please help us help more animals today?

We are in dire need of volunteers for our offsite adoption locations in Louisville and Shelbyville, due to a lack of volunteer support, many dogs go unseen from week to week since no adoption staff is available. We apologize for hours being off at times, and dogs not showing, to help us, please volunteer, complete training for volunteers is available. Without you, innocent animals die. We are also seeking new foster parents, open your home up to a homeless animal, and help them become the perfect pet.

We need volunteers to work in the office, help us take care of our cats, work with our dogs and to work on fund-raising and membership projects. As a non-profit group, finding financial support to enable us to continue our work is an ongoing struggle. There are many expenses involved in caring for the animals we have as well as expenses related to running our organization such as public relations, marketing, education, maintenance of our building and much more. It is very important that we get the word out about our work to raise public awareness and support. We are currently seeking volunteers to help with adoptions in the Louisville area.
