Volunteers are needed to help care for animals during Adopt-A-Pet events, to provide foster care for animals between events, to help with fundraising, to care for cats housed in donated space at area pet stores, to provide TLC to animals with special needs until they are ready to be adopted, and to assist when unexpected situations arise. Who We Are
Second Chance Pet Adoptions is a No-Kill, not-for-profit, all-volunteer adoption organization operating in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area. We are dedicated to helping homeless animals and displaced dogs and cats find loving, responsible, safe homes. Second Chance sponsors Adopt-A-Pet events every weekend at area pet-friendly locations. Between the events, the animals are in foster care in the homes of volunteers who provide love, training, and socialization to optimize the adoptability of each dog or cat. Adopting a friend
The adoption fee for cats/kittens is $90. This includes all vaccinations and worming due at the time of adoption. All cats 8 weeks of age and older will have been neutered or spayed and will have been tested for feline leukemia/FIV. The adoption fee for dogs/puppies start at $125. The exact fee for each dog is listed under the information on that dog/puppy. This includes all vaccinations and worming due at the time of adoption. All dogs/puppies will have been spayed or neutered and, if 6 months or older, tested for heartworms.

Adoptions are currently held at two locations- The Merriam Petsmart, located at I-35 and Johnson Drive in Merriam-Cats are shown all week, and additional Cats and Dogs are available for adoption on Saturdays from 12-4pm. Also at the new Petsmart located at 8970 NW Skyview Ave. Kansas City Mo 64154 Its located off of 152 Hwy and Ambassador Drive in the Northland. Adoptions of small dogs and puppies are available on Saturdays from 11-2
