Our Featured Pet...
Reggie is a one year old male, mix of some sort...maybe some hunting dog?? He is neutered, up on shots, don’t know yet about housebreaking but he is very gentle and gets along great with kids and other dogs. Reggie is very energetic, friendly with no sign of aggression at all. He loves kids and other dogs and needs lots of room to run. He would greatly benefit from some obedience training since he tends to jump up in glee and almost knock you over. Reggie possesses a beautiful, kind spirit and really needs his own home. The person who found him wandering in a parking lot had all of his medical needs taken care of which we sure appreciate!

Who We Are
The Second Chance Animal Refuge Society (SCARS) is a no-kill, non-profit, 501(c)(3), animal rescue organization, serving the eastern Kansas area. At SCARS we work to provide love, shelter, and veterinary care to abused and abandoned dogs in the eastern Kansas area. It is our mission to find them a permanent, loving and healthy home, or temporary accommodations until a permanent home becomes available. All of our dogs are assessed and treated by a vet immediately upon arrival. Shots are updated, and the dogs are neutered or spayed prior to joining the rest of our friends.
