Thank you for your interest in adopting a Kansas Humane Society pet. In order to adopt, you must be 18 years of age or older (or accompanied by an adult), have a current picture ID, and be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and proper care for you pet. Included in your Kansas Humane Society pet adoption is over $250 veterinary and retail services including:

What is a Foster Parent?
A volunteer foster parent assists in the rehabilitation of an animal by providing in home care.The goal of the Foster Parent Volunteer is to help animals outside of the shelter environment who are underage, sick, injured, or unsocialized so that they may become healthy, adoptable animals. Foster parents provide a clean, safe, loving environment for the animals in their homes.
Our goal is to care for as many pets as possible in order to make them available for adoption. With the help of our dedicated volunteers, we're able to save thousands of lives every year.
What You Will Do
How Much Does It Cost?
The Kansas Humane Society will give you all of the supplies needed to care for foster animals. This includes food, litter, and medical care.
Qualifications
Completion of the Kansas Humane Society Foster Care Orientation and complete a license application for the Kansas Animal Health Department ($10 fee/year).
All Foster Care Volunteers must fill out a volunteer application and sign appropriate consents and statements.
Additional training will be provided by the Foster Care Coordinator.
