Our featured pet..
ITS ARCHIE!!
Archie is a very sweet, senior walker coonhound. He was left in a crate at our shelter door. Archie has been here almost a year. He came in with heartworms and has since been treated. He is still on the thin side. His teeth are bad from age and I feel so bad for him here. He would love a home to retire in. Archie HATES cats! He tries to tree them like raccoons. LOL! So no homes with kitties. Please find it in your heart to adopt Archie. Archie is neutered, heartworm negative, dewormed, microchipped, and had all of his vaccinations. His adoption fee has been reduced to $50 since he has been overlooked for soooo long :( Please find it in your heart and home to adopt Archie!

Who We Are
The Humane Society of Atchison is a no-kill shelter founded in May, 2000. We accept animals according to space, so every adoption saves two lives, the one that got its fur-ever home, and the one that gets to take its place in the shelter. Our kitties live in a cage-free atmosphere in our own kitty city. Our doggies get the run of two large play yards to swim in kiddy pools and play with toys, weather permiting. We currently house anywhere from 50-70 animals daily and save about 600 pets a year. Because our shelter is located in a less populated area, we depend on the internet for most of our adoptions. We also survive 100% off of donations and always appreciate any help we get, from volunteers to donations. Below is our wish list. It contains items that are always in demand at our shelter and unfortunatly we often go without. If you can find it in your heart and budget to help out our critter friends as well as the human ones will be "fur"-ever greatful!
Wish List:
bleach
paper towels
dish soap
laundry detergent
fabric softener
cat litter-non scoopable
