Who We Are

Our Shelter was built in 1988: Dedicated in Memory of James R. Dicken, D.V.M. and, Thomas D. Sauerwein D.V.M. The Founders of our shelter were a small group of concerned individuals who had a fund raising drive collecting money from local residents and merchants. We are a non profit organization, not a government agency. Nor do we receive any support from United Way, we rely on membership dues, contributions, boarding fees for strays picked up and the adoptions of our animal friends.

Mission Statement

Our mission through the promotion of education in basic humane animal care is to relieve animal suffering and to prevent cruelty to animals.

Adopting a friend

If you want to adopt one of our animal friends there will be a Contact HS for fees for dogs and Contact HS on Fees for cats.

Senior pets, age 6 and older, adoption fee $40

May is National Foster Care Month

Contact us for information on how you can help an animal out by by being a foster home. Our goal for 2007 is to have 100 foster homes.
