GWP Rescue, Inc is a nationwide rescue organization that has come to the aid of wirehairs from all over the country. We hold a Home Shelter License in Ks, and an Animal Care Facility license in MO. At this time, we are the only Licensed, Insured Animal Care facility in the Nation for German Wirehaired Pointers. We are a 501c3 Public Charity.

An adoption fee of $250-$300 Applies on all of our dogs so we may continue our work, and provide the best vetting possible to insure a Happy Healthy Pet! Please feel free to sponsor a pet from our listings. It provides monthly heart worm/flea and tick preventative, the best vetting possible, spay/neuter, toys/bones and transport to a foster home. A great way to support needy dogs if you cannot adopt one! All donations are TAX deductible!

Who We Are
German Wirehaired Pointer Rescue, Inc. is a licensed, insured, NO-KILL 501c3 Non-Profit Public Charity that formed due to the rising number of German Wirehaired Pointers and mixes being euthanized in shelters in the Midwest and other areas of the U.S. We are an independent working organization based ONLY in Olathe, Ks and is NOT affiliated with any Breed Club or other GWP Rescue Organization.
Adopting a friend
You must first email for an application and then fill out the application for one of our dogs. We will then review the application, and call or email the results to you. We do a home visit, vet reference check, and personal reference check. We do our best to fit the dog to the family or person adopting the dog. Wires are not couch potatoes. They are fun loving, hike loving, field dogs that want and need a busy lifestyle. Some may hunt....many do not, and thus why they are in rescue. But these dogs make very loving companions, running partners, family dogs, and wonderful life long buddies! Adoption fees are $250-$300, and sometimes on a case by case basis. Our dogs live "inside the home" with our foster parents, and each is leash trained, crate trained, and fully vetted. You must have a tall secure fenced backyard, be very active, and commit to obedience classes for pups under a year. No Cats, birds or small furry creatures PLEASE....thanks so much!
