Shelter dogs take priority over owner surrenders. The correct spelling is German Shepherd.
Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter,current vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test, dewormer, and rabies vaccination.
GSD Rescue Indy's goal is to keep adoption fees as low as possible while still being able to provide outstanding vet care for current and future shelter shepherds.
The adoption process is 3 Easy Steps:
German Shepherd Rescue Indy is currently the only German Shepherd rescue in Indianapolis. I started this rescue because I love this loyal and intelligent breed and because shepherds do not fare well in shelter temperament testing procedures. My main focus are shepherds who are facing euthanization regionally in the tri-state area.
Please note, most of the German Shepherds I have come from shelters so they are not show dogs. I can only attest to their physical wellness at the time of adoption and not the likelihood of possible medical issues in the future.
All dogs are spayed/neutered and receive updated vaccinations including rabies, distemper, bordetella, dewormer, and heartworm tests.
As an expressed public need, I also assist existing GSD owners in finding new homes due to various circumstances. Due to limited time, the GSDs in kill shelters take Top Priority.
As a rule, We do NOT prefer to adopt out of state. Only in rare cases is this permitted. Please see adoption instructions for each GSD.
