Pet of the Month
Our pet of the month introduces herself. My name is Topaz. I am a 1 year old plott hound female. I am already spayed. I am a very friendly, social, lovable dog. I am great with kids and I am also good with other dogs. I would love to go home with you. I have been here since November and really need a home.
Who We Are
We are a city shelter, funded by the city of Vincennes, IN. We get animals that are strays or dumped in the city and the county. There are so many animals just waiting for homes. The shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursdayand Friday 10-5, Sat 10-3 Closed Wed and Sun.
Adopting a friend
We require an adoption fee and adoption application/contract. It includes the spay or neuter, first dhlpp shot and deworming. . Animals may be adopted outside the state. There is transportation available to northern Indiana, northern Illinois, Wisconsin and the eastern states.
Working With Rescue Groups
We are a rescue friendly shelter. Rescues will be required to provide references prior to helping assist any animals.
Why do we work with Rescue Groups?
Some folks may not know that there are more animals than there are good homes. Also there are some dogs that are more common in shelters and often sit waiting for a home longer than others. Animals may also have certain behaviorial or medical problems that most times rescue groups are more suitable than the shelter to work with. The groups we work with are 501c3 organizations and foster animals in their homes until they find an approved adoptor for that specific animal. If you have any questions regarding our shelter and rescues, please feel free to ask.

We are located in southern Indiana. We are half way between Terre Haute and Evansville. We are about 2 hours from Indianapolis.
