Who We Are...

One Paw at a Time is a not-for-profit all-breed rescue committed to rehoming animals that were found as strays, pulled from local kill shelters, or surrendered by previous owners. All of dogs available for adoption are up to date on vaccinations, tested for heartworm, treated with heartworm preventative, de-wormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered.

One Paw at a Time typically requires that potential adopters have a fenced-in yard to keep their new family member safe and to provide an area for exercise; however, we do make exceptions in some cases. All potential adopters must complete an adoption application and are subject to a home visit to ensure a right match for to dogs and the adopters.

Adopting A Friend...

Adopting a friend is a life-long commitment. Your new pet will not only require food, water and shelter, but yearly vaccinations, monthly heartworm preventative and also vet care in the event of an unexpected illness or injury. Please allow for such expenses in your monthly and yearly budget.

Donations...

As every animal that comes into our rescue is different, some require additional medical care such as heartworm treatment, x-rays, surgery or long-term medication. These expenses are not typically covered by incoming adoption fees. We rely heavily and gratefuly on monetary donations to help cover these costs. Monetary donations can be made by clicking on the donate button below or by mailing the donation to us at One Paw at a Time; 191 E. Bunker Hill Rd., Mooresville, IN 46158. All donations are tax deductible as we are a not-for-profit 501c3 organization.

Featured Pet or Pet of the Week

Alex
Alex is a very handsome 4-year-old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd mix that was rescued from an animal hoarder where he had lived his life as a puppy on a chain with 75-100 other dogs. Alex has come a long way since then. He has learned to trust others and is now a happy member of his foster family’s home. He is great with other dogs, walks good on a leash, is very well mannered and housetrained.
