The Warrick Humane Society is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1983.
In 1997 we built a small but beautiful center. We operate as a "No-
Kill" center in Newburgh, Indiana. Since our opening WHS has
saved over 8,000 animals!
Warrick Humane Society takes its job of providing care to homeless animals very
seriously. Currently WHS offers an extensive healthcare program for
all adoptable animals entering our shelter. Every animal is
temperament and health tested, vaccinated, wormed, de-flead,
bathed and held in quarantine for ten days. Every animal is spayed
or neutered before going into their new homes so we never add to
pet overpopulation. We also do not allow our adopted pets to be on a chain or outside pens, we like our dogs to live indoors with a family, They must be kept indoors/ and out with a fenced in yard if the dog cannot be housetrained!
Our goal at WHS is to place healthy adoptable pets into loving
homes for life. We encourage the public seeking a pet to come to
our center and spend time with the animal. We require an approved
application for adoption to make sure our pets are going to "forever
homes" that will give them the best care. Many of our furkids haven't
had the best life prior to WHS and it is our mission and goal to make
sure that homelessness or abuse will never again be a part of their
lives. We do out of state adoptions, but do require that you come to
the center to meet the animal and take them home.
When adopting a puppy or adult dog you will want to be informed that we require attendance of obedience training for the pet. Adoption fee for a dog ranges from $100 to $250.
Dogs / puppies Includes:
DA2PP vaccination
Bordetella vaccination
Rabies vaccination (if old enough)

LOTS of love and training by the staff at the shelter!
The fee for adopting a cat is 95.00 to 150.00. Certain purebreed prices may be
higher; this discourages people from adopting and turning around
and selling the animal to make a profit. We now offer Soft Claws with each kitten/cat adoption. These help with troublesome clawing of furninture and is a much better alternative to declawing!!
Cats and Kittens include:
First FVRCP vaccination
Rabies vaccination
Feline Leukemia/FIV test (kittens over 4 mo)
First de-worming (Follow-up fecal exam AND WORMING recommended).
Initial flea treatment (as needed)
Ear cleaning and nail trim if necessary
Soft Claws Kit
Spay or Neuter surgery
Shelter, food and loving care from the Staff at our Shelter and living in our free roam cat room until they are adopted!
We offer an extensive library where pet owners and families can
find all sorts of helpful information on their new family member. We
also have a large dog park where you can play with the dogs and
see how they react away from the kennel area.
We work diligently to teach each dog at the center a few basic
commands before going home. We also offer obedience classes
and agility classes at the center throughout the year.
