Our Featured Pet

Our featured pet is Ola. Ola is a MinPin type mix. She has beautiful eyes and a small face with tiny feet. She is very shy with people, but once she warms up, she is fine. She actually was adopted once, but the older dog in her new home did not like her and tried to bite her, so to be fair to her, the people brought her back to me. She really just wants a home where she can be loved forever. She is 1 /12 years old, about 25lbs and has had all her shots and is spayed. She can jump fences, however, so she would do best in a home with a privacy type fence or where she would be walked when outdoors.

Special Thanks

A special thanks goes out to Melinda Lowery and her group of home schoolers. These fantastic children chose Leota Animal Rescue to receive the money they raised for abandoned animals. This group of children raised $176!! These funds are going to be used to get electricity out to the kennel area so we can have lights and heated water buckets there. What an awesome group! I went and visited with them, and took one of the dogs with me. I had just picked him up the night before from the shelter, so he didn't have a name. The children named him "Rodney", and it certainly suits him! Thank you, Melinda, and all your home schoolers. Who says a group united can't make a difference?

Success Story

Austin - Austin is a Coonhound mix. He came to Leota Animal Rescue because his previous owners didn't want him anymore. They had gotten him as a puppy and then chained him up in the yard. When he got to be a year old and was unmanageable because they never spent any time with him, they contacted me and said they couldn't keep him. I brought him to our rescue and started working with him. He is extremely smart and loving. He learned to walk well on a leash and sits before receiving his food or a treat. Austin was transferred to a no kill rescue in Chicago and has found a good home there. He is an inside dog now with a brother to play with. His new family thinks he is the best dog.

Who We Are

Leota Animal Rescue started one year ago by fostering 1 dog for the Humane Society of Scott County, IN. By fostering that 1 dog and seeing her go to a good home, the desire to help more dogs grew. Currently Leota Animal Rescue has space for approximately 7 dogs. Unfortunately, I can't help them all. Too often I get that phone call that the time is up for some dogs. These animals need good forever homes and I need your help in saving them.

Adopting a friend

Animals are available for adoption either through Leota Animal Rescue, the Humane Society of Scott County, Indiana, or Kentuckiana Boxer Rescue. Please refer to each dog for the specifics and adoption fees, The adoption fees include spaying/neutering and their rabies and booster shots.
