Please say hello to Piper. She is a very beautiful Himalayan Lionhead bunny. She enjoys free time outside of her cage but can sometimes be a little protective of her cage. She may get better about this in a loving home with a caring family. However, right now she would probably do best in a family with previous rabbit experience. It would also be best if her new family does not have very young children. News & Events
During the month of September our first adoption event will be on Saturday, the 12th at MV Pets ( 7429 S. Westnedge) in Portage MI. Also on Saturday the 12th we will be at PetSmart South ( 1290 E Ireland Rd, #E) in South Bend, IN for their pet fair. On Sunday the 13th we will be at both PetSmart South (1290 E Ireland Rd, #E, South Bend IN) and PetSmart North (4540 Grape Rd, Mishawaka, IN). Then on Saturday and Sunday September 19th & 20th we will be at Pet Supplies Plus (corner of Ironwood at SR 23) in South Bend, IN. At all of these events, we usually have an assortment of bunnies, guinea pigs, cats and other animals available for adoption. If you are interested in a certain type of animal please contact us before you come to an event (to be sure that we will have what you are looking for) and we will be happy to provide you with futher information. Who We Are
Heartland Small Animal Rescue, Inc., is a 501c(3), non-profit, volunteer organization that is dedicated to taking in homeless pets and finding new homes for them through an established adoption program. The organization also works throughout the community to raise awareness of the importance of responsible pet ownership through adoption events, special events and pet education; and serves as a resource to assist local animal control and rescue organizations.
Adopting a friend
Potential adopters will be asked to complete an adoption application. You may email us if you wish for an adoption application. In general our adoption prices are as follows: Hamsters $8.00, Rats $10.00 (pair), Guinea Pigs $15.00 & up, Rabbits $25.00 & up and Cats $110.00. Sometimes we have other animals available and the adoption fee varies for these animals. For more information please email us or, if you are interested in a particular animal, contact the foster that is shown for each of our animals.
Come Visit Us!
Please contact us first before coming to visit. We foster all our animals in private homes rather than in a shelter environment. We also have a regularly scheduled adoption event at Pet Supplies Plus (located at the corner of SR23 and Ironwood in South Bend) the third weekend of every month.
