Our Featured Pet...
Our featured pet is every cat-in-waiting! Dogs have become so popular, that cats are filling animal shelters to the brim! Beautiful, sweet, playful, adoring and adorable cats! They, too, need and deserve great, happy, loving homes. Remember, you don't have to walk a CAT! CATS don't knock you down when they greet you! CATS don't take up the entire sofa! CATS don't eat more than you do! CATS don't insist on jumping into the pool or stealing your favorite frizbee or ball! CATS don't require a bath! CATS don't bark! Need a new best friend? Get a CAT! Although, many of us find that cats easily get us before we get them! Consider the purrrrrring cat...a wonder to behold! Summer was hard on many pets this year, and so it continues into autumn. Foreclosures have seen many pets surrendered or abandoned, while severe weather separated many dogs and cats from their families here in the storm-ravaged midwest and, in some cases, pets were injured or made terribly ill. Consider your pets when making an emergency plan for your family (refer to Petfinder for more information), because many cities and first-responder networks don't know about or don't yet get the seriousness of the federal PETS Act: PET EVACUATION AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES federal law, passed after Katrina hit. Research it on the net and be sure that your community is prepared to save its pets! The Best Friends Animal Society network of shelters can assist you in learning more. Please remember that it's always expensive to take care of these little guys. If you can, DONATE YOUR SPONSORSHIP TO HELP ONE OF THESE PRECIOUS LITTLE CREATURES! EVEN $10 CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE! PLEASE HELP US FULFILL ALL OF OUR RESPONSIBILITIES TO ALL OF THESE BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS, BY SPONSORING ONE OF OUR CATS THROUGH PETFINDER'S SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. And don't forget: Christmas is 3 months away! Don't give your kids a cat for Christmas -- Give a cat your family for Christmas! Unconditional love is waiting for you!

Who We Are
As an expanding no-kill non-profit feline shelter, we work to find our socialized feline friends terrific indoor forever-homes when they are at least four months of age and have been spayed or neutered and have gotten their shots. We give a permanent home to our outdoor colony made up mostly of cats never quite socialized enough for adoption, but cats that are spayed or neutered, happy, healthy, and deserving of a great life! In respecting the wildlife that visit us, we feed a family of frequently visiting raccoons, the deer who come almost every evening and often nap in the grass, as well as providing for our bird and squirrel friends. Our small plot of land is a no-hunting haven of safety for all of our non-predatory animal neighbors. We received federal/state sanctioning in December of 2005, but have been doing this as an avocation for well over a decade. We operate only through tax-deductible donations and the process of non-governmental foundation-grant application. We recieve no government funding whatsoever.
Adopting a friend
If you see a face that you'd like to know better, call us for an appointment to come visit! Our adoption fees are very reasonable and, while we vet our kitties' potential forever-homes with an eye to kindness, gentleness, love and safety, we don't require a lengthy pre-adoption process. Even after adoption, we're here to answer any questions you may have about your kitty. If you already have a cat and need a little guidance, call us!
