The cold chill of the winter months are upon us and there is no better way to stay warm than snuggling up with your favorite furry companion and drinking a steaming cup of hot cocoa....The best way to celebrate the coming holiday season is to welcome home a newly adopted dog! ..... Whether you are an outdoor active family or one that likes to sit and watch t.v. we have the "perfect" dog for you!! We have a wide variety of rescued dogs in every breed, size and personality just waiting to find their new "forever" homes.

Although Back-Roads Dog Rescue is basically a dog rescue, we do have a few cats.  We also support and partner with the I Feral Cat Trap and Release programs in Cass and surrounding counties.  We provide food, help with spay and neuter, and provide general support for the people carrying out the T & R services.  We do not benefit from this except to recognize that it helps prevent more unwanted animals and to know that these ferals are being fed daily. We gladly accept donations for cats as some injured feral cats are in foster homes being rehabilitated until they are well enough to be released or have adjusted enough to be adopted.We greatly appreciate any donations of food or items that allow us to continue these programs..  

Who We are: BACK-ROADS DOG RESCUE is an all breed Not-for -Profit dog rescue that was organized in January of 2007 to help the local dogs of Miami, Cass and other surrounding counties. IF our foster homes have the extra room we will also help anyone needing it.

Back-Roads Mission

We are a small "family" of volunteers that rescues dogs from our area pounds and shelters so that they may have a second chance to enjoy their life with a loving family and to be able to lead a long healthy life like they truly deserve! Our mission is to try to keep our costs low, maintain the health of the dog while saving as many homeless dogs as possible. We are a not -for -profit rescue that is run entirely by loving volunteers who donate their time and love! We are 501c3 but not federally tax exempt so we are unable to receive grants or supporting monies from corporate businesses or larger donating organizations --therefore, donations are ALWAYS gladly accepted and appreciated!!! We are a RESCUE and NOT a Humane society or animal shelter so we DO NOT have a permanent shelter building with set hours of operation or visitation. All of our rescued dogs stay in foster homes until they are adopted into their new "forever" homes. All potential adoptees must fill out a adoption application so that we may verify information and references prior to viewing and adopting the dogs. Since we are all volunteers who also work full-time jobs-we do need for you to be patient please if we are unable to immediately respond to your inquiries. If you don't reach us in person PLEASE leave your name, number and a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can!! Also, please talk slow and clear so that we may understand your message....We can not return your calls if we can not understand your message and phone number!!!

*PLEASE NOTE ; Some of our rescued dogs will need to be placed in homes that have a fenced yard, this is because of past situations that these dogs have come from and for the dogs future safety. Back-Roads Dog Rescue DOES NOT ACCEPT invisible or underground fences as a fence to contain the dog. There have been numerous issues that have been brought to our attention with these fences and we DO NOT consider them safe for our dogs!!!*
