Our Dog of the Month...

RASCAL--A SHEPHERD/LAB-MIX
Hey Everybody! Look at MEEEEEEE! My name is Rascal and I think I'm about seven, but numbers don't matter a lot to me. I was brought to the Humane Society when I was a puppy and there were four in my litter. I was so happy when the other three got homes -- they were still puppies! But my day didn't come. I've been in the shelter for way too many Christmases and St. Patrick's Days. (maybe that's why I don't like numbers.) I am sweet, gentle, and loving. I walk beautifully on a leash and I don't even mind getting brushed or getting baths. I get along with most dogs, but I think the little ones are too high maintenance and they bug the crap out of me. Anyway, just like the three puppies who came in with me when we were babies and then all went away, in the last ten days MY THREE BEST FRIENDS from the shelter have been adopted. I'm seven, and my friends are gone and I don't have anyone to play with. The good news is that opens up a whole lot of room in my heart for YOU to love me and for ME to love you. So whadd'ya think? Can we give it a try? You can meet me at MCHS. I may have sad eyes, yeah. But maybe you can brighten them up! My paws are crossed!

Our Cat of the Month...

MEET BEAUTIFUL SNOWY!
My name is Snowy, and I am a sweet, lovable kitty who would love to be your new pet! I came to MCHS as a mommy with my beautiful babies, and now I am ready for my own home. Please come see me at MCHS, fill out the adoption application, and get approved to take me home. My adoption fee is only $85.00--a great price for such a lovely girl, don't you think? I'm already spayed and current on my vaccines, too!

A DAY IN THEIR PAWS CHALLENGE, FEB. 11

Madison County Humane Society Board Members proudly announce ‘A DAY IN THEIR PAWS,’ February 11, 2012! The board has challenged themselves to raise funds as well as promoting awareness of the lives we are responsible for. Ask anyone involved in rescue ~ without hesitation, they will tell you there is no price that can be placed on the value of a new family member that will provide you with unconditional love. The board has attached a $1 amount for each minute of the day we will spend in their paws (quick math check shows that a day = $1440 PER BOARD MEMBER). Each member is encouraged to use his or her creativity to raise funds. Some will ‘buy their way OUT’ if folks donate a $1 per minute (we planned it on a day that some already have other commitments for). Others will stay locked in ONLY for each $1 donated. Others committed locking themselves in for the day & buying their way out early with each dollar UNLESS they reach their goal (then they will stay the entire 24 hours). We would ESPECIALLY like to see board members exceed the goal that has been set. Watch for pictures & challenges between members. To see us in action, stop by noon to 5 pm on Saturday February 11, 2012 when board members will be living A Day in THIER PAWS! Please share this challenge so that we can surpass county and statewide exposure; we would like folks nationwide to share our experience! Thanks for your support.

PET-OWNERS BEWARE--PETS ARE BEING STOLEN FROM YARDS IN ANDERSON!!

Don't leave your dog unattended in your yard--dogs are being stolen from neighborhoods, boldly being snatched right out from under their owners' noses, from fenced in yards & while with other pets! If your dog is stolen, report the theft immediately to the police. Watch out for your neighbors' pets & watch for suspicious vehicles in your neighborhood. If you have a Crime Watch group in your neighborhood, alert them, too. Stolen dogs are often used for dog fighting purposes or breeding--don't let this cruel thing happen to your dog!

Foster care homes & other volunteers always needed

Come out to apply to foster MCHS animals today! We need people to help provide temporary in-home care with selected pets to give them personalized attention & socialization.
