The Madison County SPCA Humane Society, Inc. operates a 501c3 tax-exempt public charity.
MCHS is a No-Kill receiving facility dedicated to providing housing, food and health care for lost, homeless, surrendered, or neglected companion dogs and cats.
Our adoption program is designed to find new forever homes for all of our temporary residents.
Choose from cats of all ages, from kittens to seniors! Our 3 Community Cat Rooms let you get up close & personal to help you decide which cat is for you. And remember--we ALWAYS have adoptable cats in the Adoption Room at Anderson PetSmart on S. Scatterfield Rd. Cozy up with a new purr-fect friend!
We have lots of little dogs & plenty of other dogs, too!-- all colors & ages...all waiting for their own forever homes! Adoption fee discount on "senior" pets 7 yrs. & up with lots of life and love to give!
3rd Saturday each month, 1:00-4:00pm, bring your pet & donate $5+ for a nail trim, $10 for heartworm testing, and/or $20+ for micro-chipping by MCHS shelter staff--help both your pet & us! Pet must be on a leash & current on Rabies shot. (No vicious pets) All donations benefit Humane Society animals & their care. THAT'S THE 3RD SATURDAY EVERY MONTH!
Show you care, while supporting the Humane Society cause! Our merchandise is for sale in our office and during special events. Every dollar you spend helps provide care for our animals!
Also, we are always in need of Thundershirts for our dogs! If you aren't able to foster, adopt, or volunteer, consider donating!

Don't leave your dog unattended in your yard--dogs are being stolen from neighborhoods, boldly being snatched right out from under their owners' noses, from fenced in yards & while with other pets! If your dog is stolen, report the theft immediately to the police. Watch out for your neighbors' pets & watch for suspicious vehicles in your neighborhood. If you have a Crime Watch group in your neighborhood, alert them, too. Stolen dogs are often used for dog fighting purposes or breeding--don't let this cruel thing happen to your dog!
Come out to apply to foster MCHS animals today! We need people to help provide temporary in-home care with selected pets to give them personalized attention & socialization. We need help in our shelter with laundry, to walk, brush, and socialize our dogs, to help with cats & dogs at PETSMART, and to work in our office. Just request a volunteer and/or foster application!
You need an approved adoption application before you can adopt & take home a pet. We will screen your application as quickly as we can to contact you about your adoption. Our pet adoption fees are:
Dogs under age 7 yrs $125.00; Purebred dogs under age 7 yrs $150
Dogs age 7 yrs. & up are $75
Cats under age 7 yrs. $85.00; cats age 7 yrs. & up are $65
