PLEASE KEEP IN MIND WHEN SEARCHING FOR A NEW FRIEND...
The Kokomo Humane Society houses close to 70-90 adoptable animals. Each day, we adopt out and take in animals - so our list of available animals changes daily. Therefore, we are not able to put every animal on our 'Adoptable List" as it would have to be updated essentially every couple of hours. Having a small staff that also must attend to the needs of the animals as well as our customers, we are unable to update our listing each time a new animal comes in. We encourage you to please contact the shelter if there is a specific type of animal you are interested in or to keep checking every couple of days to see changes and additions to our Pet List.

News
All our adopted pets are now microchipped! When you adopt your new best friend, we will microchip and register him or her. We now provide a gift of 30 days of PetHealth Pet Insurance to all adopted animals. This insurance policy, in effect two days after the adoption, covers many potential health issues that may affect adopted animals. Who We Are
The Kokomo Humane Society, established in 1891, has been helping animals in need for 115 years. We offer shelter and care for lost, stray or homeless animals. We provide animal control services for Kokomo, Howard County and other area communities. We work to find lifetime homes for our animals. The Kokomo Humane Society Education Department presents programs to hundreds of children and adults each year. We are located at 713 North Elizabeth Street in Kokomo, Indiana. Adopting a friend
Our adoption fee is $85 for dogs and cats over 6 months and $100 for puppies and kittens under 6 months. If the animal you choose to adopt is in need of spaying/neutering and a rabies vaccination, we will provide you with a spay/neuter surgery voucher and a rabies voucher to be redeemed at any of the veterinarian offices participating in our low-cost spay/neuter program. All veterinarians located in Kokomo, Howard County and several in area communities are included in our program. Visit our website at www. kokomohumane.org. for a complete listing.
If you choose to use a veterinarian that is not included in our low cost program, you will be responsible for your total spay/neuter fees. Once you have had the surgery completed and provided a receipt from the veterinarian, a portion of your adoption fee will be returned to you.
We require that those wishing to adopt visit the Kokomo Humane Society in person. We must meet and speak with prospective adopters. We do not do any transporting or shipping of animals.

Our shelter is open for adoption, visitation, and reclaiming from 12pm-5pm Monday through Friday, and 11am-4pm on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays.

Coming from South US 31:
Travel north on US 31. Once you come to the intersection of Sycamore St and US 31, continue through the intersection veering immediately into the inside lane. Immediately past the intersection turn left (west) onto Jefferson St. (Sim's Auto/Guyer Moving Co.) Continue for approximately 5 blocks. You will see a green "Animal Shelter" sign. Turn right (north) onto Elizabeth
Street and continue 1 block.
Coming from North US 31:
Travel south on US 31. Just past Menard's/railroad tracks, turn right (west) onto Jefferson Street (Sim's Auto/Guyer Moving Co.) Continue on Jefferson St. for approximately 5 blocks. You will see a green "Animal Shelter" sign. Turn right onto Elizabeth Street and continue 1 block.
